i need to switch my summer tires to either all winter or all season tires. i like the handling that i get from my eagle f1's, they impress me more all the time. i would like to get the same performance and handling as the summer tires, but i realize that i am probably dreaming. if i could get some sweet handling all season tires, i would stay with them and not switch back. any suggestions, the size i need are 215 45 17's speed rated above h.

I have a 1984 GMC 70 Dump Truck with a 427 cubic in. gasoline eng. I am having problems keeping air pressure above 30. it takes at least 60 to release the brakes. I've scanned for leaks and have found nothing. All the hoses look good. I am not real familiar with the compressor though. What can i do to ensure that my compressor isn't bad ? I also would like to know can I override the brakes on one of the axles, since only the passenger side front set of wheels is locked?

Ive got a 1998 camaro as stated, runs great, except when i go to put the passenger's window up. When the window gets about half way up, it begins to squeak and gets really slow. Sometimes it won't even make it all the way up and i have to push it up. My question is..do i need a new window motor or a regulator? I've heard both from some of my colleagues, but I'm not sure they really know. Please help.

Yesterday I had my Alternator 'replaced' because it was allegedly faulty. I had flickering lights amongst other strange symptoms, I suspected a short, or maybe alternator, but it was outputting a good voltage; however I check with garage and they said it was alternator, which they subsequently replaced.

They did the work, and my problem disappeared, BUT and it's a big but; I';ve had a look at the alternator tonight and it doesn't look any different (pot marked and dust coated), certainly not new, and there are no 'clean bits' around it on the wires which is what you'd expect at least to some degree.

There was a loose connection behind the stereo that was causing speakers on one side to go off (until I pushed the radio a bit); I told them this, and now I no longer have the Speaker/radio problem either. I suspect all they've done is remove the radio and reseat the connections at the back which is what has sorted my flickery lights problem.

Not sure, but very suspicious - any ideas?

My SIL rearended the Caravan and there is some damage to pass. door, but none to my Scion xb, which is made of cheap plastic, so I'm even doubting she really hit her, but am willing to pay a reasonable amount. Any suggestions on reasonable from an auto body specialist or anyone who would know such things?

I recently started hearing a noise come from my car.

First to describe the noise, it sounds like a screech, like something is spinning. I cant really describe it, so dont judge the problem off that. I didn't hear this annoying noise at all, untill i had my ignition timing set to lower to pass smog, i only heard the noise rarely... VERY rarely. I dont ever hear the noise when im idleing on a red light or when i start my car. I only hear it when im moving, BUT i dont hear it anymore if i tap on the breaks.

My car is also due for an oil change, i driven it a good 2.5k miles already since its last... Could that be the problem? Its super annoying, you can almost hear it through music if i play it low enough.

Thanks!

Hello and I'd like to start by thanking anybody who may have some good info on what's wrong with my car. I'm a single mother so my transportation is critical at this point.

I have a 1993 Sable that's running rough, sucking down a lot of gas, and has a gassy smell when running. When accelerating, the car seems to lose power every second or so.

What could be wrong? About how much will it cost to fix? Are there any good shops in the north Atlanta area that would do this for a reasonable price?

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry and this morning it just refuses to start. There is no clanking or knocking whatsoever and this is a fairly recent problem- earlier this week. Beforehand, it would take a couple of attempts but usually started after a few tries. Now it has both the low oil pressure and battery discharge light on and won't start at all.

Are these problems related? I've been looking over the net to try and diagnose the problem myself, since I'm rather tight on budget, but it seems like this requires a pro. If so, what can I say to not get ripped off?

Thank you for any answers.

My brother in law used rubbing alcohol on his jeep to "clear it out" but I'm afraid to do that. I drive a 1998 Ford Expedition and it has a 30 gallon tank. It'll hold anywhere from 24 to 26 gallons but never close to 30. What should I do?

I removed a bolt on the side of my motorcycle to remove the back rest near the rear turnsignal. It has a star head and requires a Torx 40 bit to remove. The head is stripped out and is now stuck. Anyone know what size this might beso I can replace this when I get it out?

I'm in the automotive field, and I'm a mechanics helper. Well, i'm more then that now. I can basically do anything from diagnostics to most repair works. ASE cert. in brakes, HVAC, electricity, engine repair and just took the test for Engine performance (not the L1, but the basic). i know i did pretty good. currently im working at a citgo gas station, in the DC area. i go home with $350 a week after taxes. the shop rate is $70/hr and i work 5 days a week from 9 to 7and the other days im at school or off. i think im being cheated but i don't want to say anything without knowing for sure. if youre in the feild or know about this stuff, can you please give me some feed back? thank you

I recently purchased a 98 Toyota Avalon XLS. One minor issue with the car is that the gas release lever doesn't open the gas cap door without a little help. I have to lodge something in the gas cap door first to put outward pressure on it, then I engage the gas release lever to open it. Does anyone have any clever ideas for something to rig up to leave lodged in the gas cap door so I don't have to mess around with it every time I stop at the gas station?
