Silencing an engine?

does anyone know of any kind of method that can make an engine more quiet. I know there are ways to make them louder i was just wondering. I have a small go kart that i would really like to make more quiet so the neighbors woudnt complain so much, thank you!

Installing a larger muffler should help...may have to be custom made. Try a motorcycle shop.
