dodge man is an idiot - kerosene is very very destructive to the clear coat finish - do not ever use kerosene for anything on a car.

I use PREP-SOL it is a cleaner and degreaser for clear coat finishes.

Simply soak a rag with it - and wipe it on - use a clean cloth to remove residue.

Repeat until it is gone.

Rubbing compound will cause severe scratches, from the white paint - when it starts to fall off.

Go to an auto supply store and get GS-27 or a comparable brand, You will probably have to ask the store clerk for help, Unless you car is quite old, it will have a clear coat on it and the GS-27 or alternate will do quite well, Stop rubbing the polish when the paint disappears, It is abrasive and will remove your original car's paint.
Autosol from Eastwood Company will also remove the paint from clear coat and any minor scratches in the clear coat.
I like Dodge Man's answer. Remember, in using any type solvent, immediately after getting the unwanted paint off, wash the solvent off with water and car wash detergent. Again Autosol will restore the shine after using a solvent.

Dodge Man is somewhat correct...road paint is some very tough stuff and normal methods will not remove it. I use either gasoline or kerosene but flush it with water right away as it will harm the clear coat. No guarantee that you won't have to repaint the area but it's the only way I've seen to get it off. Maybe call the highway dept that paints the stripes and see what they recommend.

use kerosene on it, this wont harm the paint on the vehicle but will remove the other paint also a small amount of gas on a rag will do the same thing, wash it first to make sure its clean and then use a small amount of gas and after your all done removing it,then polish it back out,and you,ll never know it had any other paint on it,good luck.

A buffing compound will do the trick. Done it many times on my own car.
