I'm in the automotive field, and I'm a mechanics helper. Well, i'm more then that now. I can basically do anything from diagnostics to most repair works. ASE cert. in brakes, HVAC, electricity, engine repair and just took the test for Engine performance (not the L1, but the basic). i know i did pretty good. currently im working at a citgo gas station, in the DC area. i go home with $350 a week after taxes. the shop rate is $70/hr and i work 5 days a week from 9 to 7and the other days im at school or off. i think im being cheated but i don't want to say anything without knowing for sure. if youre in the feild or know about this stuff, can you please give me some feed back? thank you

sounds like you're makig $10 bucks an hour. What state do you live in (makes a difference). Take some classes and become a master mechanic.. check out monster.com or the newspaper. I think you can make more

Your bringing home around $350 a week and still in school? Your doing pretty good! I don't know about Illinois, but around here, if the employee is still in school, the employer doesn't have to pay as much, it is called a "student wage." After you graduate, see what you get paid and if still not happy, check around for another job.

doesnt sound too bad... but I would start apply at local dealerships or auto repair shops if you feel your not making enough, also check your local paper or online job bank to see how much employers are paying peopel in your skill range.

HOW OLD ARE YOU? HOW MANY YEARS EXPIRENCE DO YOU HAVE? DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN TOOLS,(EVERYTHING YOU NEED WITHOUT BORROWING FROM SOMEBODY ELSE). ALL THAT AND MORE ADD UP TO WHAT YOU GET PAID. NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM YOU BUT ANYBODY CAN READ A BOOK AND PASS A TEST.
