I have a 1988 Pathfinder. The vehicle coasts straight and true, and there are no signs of tire wear (10K+ miles on tires). The vehicle pulls to one side only when I throttle. I don't notice this when I am constantly on the throttle, but only when I alternate between coasting and accelerating. I have to compensate the steering wheel, and when going fast, this can really cause me to be swervy. I don't want to be pulled off the road for looking like I am driving drunk, or worse yet, skid off the road in snowy conditions. Is this an alignment problem?

seem like the engine temp takes a little while to get to normal, so i go on to turn on the heater, the air is warm but hot all the way up to speed 2, but after a while is just cold air, but if i go all the way up to speed 4 is just cold right away. the temp reads normal.

My car is making noises like a load industrial machine or a train. I checked the dipstick and it was only 3cm up. Could it be that the noise is due to low engine oil ?

I'm currently doing 250 to 300 km per tank of gas, i've cleaned out my system a month ago with one of those gas mileage cleaners that u put in your fuel tank. Ive also changed the coolant temp gauge and checked for leaks. The car doesn't idle funny either. The air filter was changed recently and the oil filter as well. The spark plugs were last changed a year and a half ago. I used to do 600 to 650 km could the spark plugs still be the problem? I'm a student who can't afford the high gas prices, please help!

I had a safety inspection done on my 1999 Jeep Wrangler, and the failure report shows that the energy absorbing steering column is severely cracked. Is this even possible? I am thinking that they may have mistakenly put this on the report instead of the serpentine belt, which they did mention to me verbally, and it wasn't on the report.

I have a 2003 Dodge Durango - i want to know if the differential fluid and a squeaking from front of car are related? I went to the dealer and this is what he recommended to do - I did not ask him about the squeaking because i did not think about it...if it's not because of the differential fluid, what else could it be?

My wife has two problems with her a/c and heater in her 2001 Honda Civic. When her car is idling, her heater doens't blow out hot air, but it starts working fine again once she starts going. Secondly, her car makes a rattling noise any time she uses her a/c. If she just uses the blower without the a/c, the noise goes away.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Dan

About one month ago, I had my starter replaced in my car at my repair shop. I was having an intermittent no-start situation.

I'm noticing the problem again. I want to call the repair shop, but I'm wondering what should I expect from them during this process? Do you think it would be under warranty?

While I am no mechanic, I have replaced spark plug wires, I installed a new radio, and replaced a radiator hose. I have a squeaky belt on my 2000 Honda Civic, how hard would it be for me to replace it?

I bought a 2004 Honda Accord from a Ford dealership in Sept. 2006. I have been having problems with it. I noticed some tiny oily looking water mark dots on it and the dealer says it is acid rain. Since I bought the car, I have had to change the brake pads. The car also blew a tire, and the front rotors had to be replaced because it would shake when I brake. Now the left turn signal is not working. When the bulb is replaced it blows up. I was told the switch is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. This is too much trouble for a three-year old Honda car. Did I buy a lemon? If so, do I have any legal recourse in South Carolina especially since it has been 14 months since I purchased the car and there is no warranty left on it. I always maintain my cars properly so it is not a problem of maintenance. I have also noticed that the paint on the car is not as shiny as it could be. It is black but looks a little dull. Am I being paranoid here? Please help

yesterday i drove my honda civic on road, it got overheating. the coolant came out like steam and boiled water from the cap of reservoir. the temperature gauge hit the red zone. I added some coolant and drove the car again. the temperature hit red again. however if i turn on the air flow in the car, the temperature can keep normal, but the blow is very hot. I thought the fan of the radiator was not working. that might because the thermostat of the fan. do anybody have another idea? thanks

i asked a question about a week ago about my breaks squeeking and it seems that i just need to change the pads... talked to a coworker and he insisted i can do the job myself... im a pretty smart guy and im sure i can figure it out, but is there anything not intuitive i need to do? anyone got a step by step process? so far as i can tell its just:
raise car
take off tire
take off caliper with some tool that i need to buy (not that expensive right?)
change the pad
sand down the rotor a little to reduce the chance of it squeeking
put the caliper back on
put the tire back on

am i missing anything?

im doing it all myself because i dont want to spend much money on the car, it just needs to last me through the winter...
