My wife has two problems with her a/c and heater in her 2001 Honda Civic. When her car is idling, her heater doens't blow out hot air, but it starts working fine again once she starts going. Secondly, her car makes a rattling noise any time she uses her a/c. If she just uses the blower without the a/c, the noise goes away.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Dan

Just a guess but sounds like thermostat is stuck open. The a/c noise sounds like the electric clutch on the compressor. Take it to an automotive a/c shop and get it checked out.
