worried about the price of fuel, use less.
your government raises substantial amounts of money from the taxes off fuel, lobby them to reduce the taxation burden
invest your money into an oil search company and find more.
but more realisticly,
use less feul
drive a smaller car
walk more
buy and use a bicycle
commute less by working from home, or living closer to your work
become more environmentally aware in your outlook

An energy expert on TV predicted we will run out of most oil/gasoline worldwide in about 9 years..China is buying more cars and gasoline with the export money we spend there. And we use a lot with gas guzzling SUVs. Consider that the oil to transport Chinese goods here will soon be so expensive that it will be again cheaper to manufacture in the same country. Consider how it will affect the trucking and grocery industies. About how we get bananas overseas and oranges from Fla and vegetables year round from Calif. And transporting milk and meat and grains from farms to urban areas. What about large grocery stores such as Meijers and Walmart? It may be cheaper to go to a closer mom and pop small store gasoline wise. Milk may be available only in powdered form in order to cut shipping costs and veggies , meats and fruits and vegetables also. Forget the so-called global economy if we run out of gasoline/oil.
Germany is using tax breaks to encourage more building of sun energy storage units. That is what the U.S and the rest of the world should be doing.

You mean the same government that forced you to buy a fuel-guzzling vehicle? And if not you, then every other idiot in the country who thinks 10 miles per gallon to move their fatt a$$ to work all by themself is perfectly fine? Stop seeking the government's help to solve every problem you see. Did you ever notice how people (stupid, helpless people) always want the government to help if it's something THEY need, but if it's something they DON'T need, they want the government to buzz off?

The answer to your question is yes. Somebody CAN do something about the price of oil.
That somebody is YOU and all the rest of us in this country who have been consuming the stuff in its many forms like there was an infinite stable supply of it.
The price of oil will follow the economic laws just like every other commodity. Decrease demand and the price will go down.
Get the websites of your elected representatives in Washington and let them know you want your country free of dependence on oil and that their re-election depends on their votes pertaining to nuclear energy and other alternate energy development.
Get MAD and get INVOLVED!

Yes, you can do something about it.
USE LESS!!!!
It has nothing to do with the government. This is all supply and demand economics. Too little supply + too much demand = higher prices. Reduce demand and prices drop. You have the power. I'm already doing my bit. I drive my car an average of 1,100 miles/year. I walk/ride my bike the rest of the time. I put all new windows in my house and have switched to flourescent bulbs, etc, etc, etc....
What have you done?

What is your proposal? To invade another country so you can move your fat butt on an SUV for nickels and dimes? Buy a smaller car, take the bus or walk for a change.

There is nothing we can do. It is called supply and demand.
If everyone in the United States did not buy gas for a day (Which is impossible) The gas prices would fall dramatically.
