I see on average, about a dozen tires a day with nails, screws or some similar foriegn object in them.

Trust me, it happens all the time.

Dang!! I had a flat tire on my Cub Cadet yesterday! It was the front left. The rear tire was OK. I looked and looked and found no nail. When I inflated it, it didn't hiss and I was able to continue on and mow my lawn. I just checked, it is down again!!!
What the hell this has to do with your question, I don't know. But darn it all, this Cub Cadet is only 2 years old. Dang it all, I gotta check my yard for nails!!

Lay a pen on its side and apply pressure to one end and it can flip up and in a tire it is caught.

A nail has a larger head to apply the pressure and flip much easier.

When you mentioned a nail falling and laying down, I was certain you meant "nail" being a Liberal. In case you did mean that, you're right.

Yes it does but when you roll over it on the head first it flips up and sticks in your tire.I know i hate flats too.
