I had a safety inspection done on my 1999 Jeep Wrangler, and the failure report shows that the energy absorbing steering column is severely cracked. Is this even possible? I am thinking that they may have mistakenly put this on the report instead of the serpentine belt, which they did mention to me verbally, and it wasn't on the report.

I would tend to agree with you. The energy absorbing part is, I believe, enclosed and not visible unless you remove the entire column. I would ask for an explanation.
