When I drive my car makes a grinding noise, somewhat similar to a circular saw. It doesnt happen when I am traveling fast, only around 20-40 mph. I took off the front tire to look and couldnt see any loose objects. When I did the brake area was very hot to the touch. Any help would be awesome

And roughly how much would it cost to have those locks (and the glove box lock) replaced? Not for parts, just labor; I will purchase the lock set on my own.

Just started happening.

When I park and turn off my car the tail/brake lights stay on. I have to remove the fuse to turn them off.

What is it?

P.S. No dashboard lights indicating a problem.

My husband and I just bought a car and the stupid thing doesn't have a temperature gauge. It has a light that tells you when the car is overheating and it has a little info display that tells you the temperature of the coolant. I have no idea if 189 degrees F is a low temp, mid or high. I would really love to know what temperature indicates that the car is getting hot, so I can pull over before the car overheats.

The rest of the car is just lovely, but when you're on a budget you don't always get everything you want.

I don't know to much about engines, my 2003 Mitsubishi Galant stopped running on the highway yesterday. Today a mechanic told me that the timing belt had broken and that some damage to valves and a cylinder occurred because of the belt broke. He estimated that it will cost $1,903 to fix it. Is this a reasonable cost, and does it make sense to repair or is it wiser to replace engine?

I have a 91 quad four engine in a Buick Skylark. I am having to replace plugs every month. I have an oil leak that seems to be coming from a seal on the side and below the plugs. The last tune-up I got made the engine run smooth in park and restored the power but shaky in first at a stop. The mechanic said long plugs are supposed to go in the engine but discovered that short ones were installed. What do you guys think the problem is?

I always hear talk about people with manual transmissions save more gas than people with automatic cars. I have the old school manual. Not this new stuff where there is no clutch. I have a clutch on mine the old school stick shift. Anyway, I've been trying to save gas. Do I burn more gas in a higher gear or a lower gear. Where should I keep the RPM's when I'm driving in the higher or lower gear at that as well? Example. It redlines at 9000 RPMS. I'm trying to save gas. Should I have it halfway driving in that particular gear, and should I be driving in a high or low gear so I don't burn as much gas?

I just purchased my 1998 cavalier three days ago and the check engine light was already on. The dealer said it wasnt a big deal they forgot to turn it off when they were replacing something in it. When I put my car in reverse it acts like it clicks or has to "lock" into gear. My car feels like its going to die when I go up a steep hill and my accelerator is all the way to the floor and still not gaining speed. When I turn my steering wheel it squeals and sounds like its churning. I also need my brakes replaced. I just dont know why my check engine light is on, should I ignore it?

del sol trouble « » 10:13 AM 9/25/2007 Reply Edit

i have a 93 del sol with a d16z6

one day i was driving my car to the bank aprox 1 mile away and half way there my car wouldnt let the engine rev past 4000rpm the car was just acking like it couldnt go and had no power. so i baby it to the bank. once i come out of the bank the car wont start

after getting it towed and checking what check engine light code my car is giving me it ends up being code 21 which is VTEC spool solenoid valve( witch the car has always shown a CEL but never seemed to have problem untill now)

so i order a VTEC solenoid and replace that the CEL is gone and the car starts most of the timeand kind of doesnt run as smooth as normal but when i dive it for a few blocks the car just either stops or putters out

so i reset the ecu yesterday and changed the oil just because it needed it

and now the car starts everytime i try no problems and runs smoother

but i have driven it a few times just to see if everything is ok i have driven it a good 5 miles away and then back home it seemed ok but i didnt really take the car over 5500 rpms although the car didnt seem like it went into VTEC

today i drive it again i kind of get on it a lil and the first time i try to take it super close to the revlimiter the car shuts of slowly. it wont restart of course and i had to push the car home from a few blocks

im starting to get fed up and dont know what to do

technician says it's an injector problem and i need to replace them. I replaced them 70,000 miles ago, fuel filter is new and pump is ok. Do you have any idea what can cause the pressure to be low? At 2,500 rpm it just won't deliver any more.
