when i crank my truck up its @ 10 degrees but when i rev it up it goes to about 20 degrees and stays when i cut the truck off and recrank it, it goes right back to 10 degrees is this normal? i have greased the wieghts and have checked the vacuum advance lines and they are right. please help me?

Should go higher if you increase the RPM. You have two advances on a mechanical distributor. The centrifugal & vacuum. Both work together. Vacuum at the lower end & the weights at the higher end. Make sure something is not caught in the plate.

You should be seeing more advance then that. It should be near 40'.
Unplug the vacuum advance and re-test. If it still does it, it is a problem with the mechanical advance. If it goes away, it is the vacuum advance.

I agree, the plate is binding. If lubing it and working it dont work, clean it with carb cleaner, and use a polishing compound like blue magic, and "lap" it......work it back and forth. Be sure to clean it completely afterwards and lube it with a heavy, heat resistant grease.

the mechanical advance plate is binding... try wd40 on the shaft area and work back and forth by hand with the rotor on
