I was driving it one night to town, when I stopped at a stop sign my car just died. I tried jumping it and push starting it and it won't fire. Since then I have checked the fuel pump and filter the coil and the spark plugs. All seems well. Does anyone else know what it could be? I have also thought that it could be the Fuel injectors but I have not checked those yet. Can someone Please help?

I have a 2004 Mazda6 and it is already at 60,000 and some odd miles. I read that timing belts need to be replaced at 60,000 miles. Someone told me that some newer cars come with steele timing belts and won't snap as easily as the old rubber ones. Is this true? And also, how can I find out what kind of timing belt I have? In other words, how can I find out if mine is steele and how much longer I can go with out replacing it? I have seen that it is several hundred dollars to get the timing belt replaced. But I also don't want it to snap and cause so much $$$ in damage to my engine.

I would like to know how can you tell if the springs on your car is bad and also does all cars have a uniform height (in other words are all cars evenly balanced in terms of the front & rear suspension height).

A couple of days ago, I was backing out of a parking lot. As soon as I put my vehicle in reverse gear, it died instantly. I was able to successfully start it back up again. A couple of hours later, I tried to start it and the check engine light came on. I tried to start it the second time and it was successful. Ever since then, it has started and ran just fine.

Specifics: 2000 Chevy Malibu with about 147,900 miles on it. Routine maintenance such as tune-up, oil changes, tire changes, and other necessary routine things are all that have been done, with the exception of a slight problem with instrumentation (false check engine light readings) very early on, around 50,000 miles -- which has since been corrected. Only thing I have noted lately is if it gets down to 1/3 or 1/4 of a tank, it loses RPM power when going up hills. Otherwise, the car runs fine. (I commute back and forth to work 70 miles a day, and utilize cruise control most of the time).

I have been told it needs changing every 40,000 but the garage I use have shown me a mechanic’s book which said it needs to be changed every 100,000. I’m really confused, as a Vauxhall dealer has told me it’s every 40,000. Can anyone help!!

Also how long will it need to be charged for and when fully charged how long will it last, if the alternator isn't working, i live 10 miles away and need to get my car home from work..

my check engine light came on so i went to autozone and i had them do a OBD2 scan and then the guy couldnt explain what was wrong with my car that made it come on.. he looked at the screen and was like
"yeah.. i could be any of these... um.. so yeah.."

and then he printed off a recipt thing for me and it said this:

Definition:
EVAP (evaporative emission system) purge/vent solenoid circuit condition
Explanation:
The solenoids and system wiring are monitored for opens or
shorts
Probable Causes:
1. Purge or vent solenoids defective
2. Check connector and wiring
3. Fuel saturated vapor canister
4. failed EVAP vent solenoid

so.. could someone who acctually knows what they're talking about tell me what i need to do? i'm mechanically dumb :-\

thank you :)

93 Roadmaster Estate Wagon, 70,000 miles. LT1 350

New Cap, Thermostat, and full on coolant. Fan kicks on, not loose or bad fan clutch. No white smoke.

Started on a long trip from STL, MO to CA.

Mostly happens when starting from cold. Will go into Red Zone and then before I can pull over or count to 10-20 it will fall back down to normal range. However on a long drive it will sometimes do it while driving, could be up hill or down, so load or air flow doesn't seem to be the problem.

Will not heat up at idle, but at cruise RPM of about 1800RPM.

Noticed recently that the oil pressure indicates high oil pressure early on and changes to normal with the temp gauge.

Found a posting about the exact same problem for this year, but no response. Anyone else know of this and can help?

Thanks in advance.

I would like to buy a custom paint job for my car. The problem is at the parking lot of my office cars are often keyed. If I was to get a paint job it is more likely that my car will be keyed. Will the people who paint it have a warranty that will cover cars getting keyed or will my insurance cover it?
