If you mean the pads are loose in the calipers, that's normal because you had to compress the piston(s) prior to installing the pads. Press the brake pedal a few times until it's hard, then check the pads are snugly in place.

If at the time of replacing your brakes, the rotors were good, then the person who replaced the brakes has not 'bled' the system completely. If the rotors were not checked, then it would be the correct thing to do now. With the engine running and the car stationary, pump the brakes a few times. If they firm up with pumping and do not slowly go down while holding the pressure, then they need bleeding. However, after pumping when they firm up and the pedal starts to go down slowly, then your master cylinder is faulty. Either replace a new kit or perhaps change the complete unit.

I have presumed you have all 4 disc brakes. If you have drum at the back, then there is a ratchet adjustment with should make a lot of difference.

If the pedal "pumps up" - gets higher if you apply pressure a few times in a row - there is air in the system. Otherwise, it depends on a vehicle. If it has rear drum brakes, the adjusting mechanism is not working or the shoes have not been installed/adjusted correctly.

Bleed the system to remove air, check and adjust rear brakes. Were drums and rotors turned? may be beyond turn limits and need to be replaced.
