A simple tune up will fix this.

spark plugs
wires
cap
rotor
air filter
oil filter and oil

All of the above answers as well as make sure the tuneup includes new spark plug wires if your car has never had new ones. Lastly, have the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor checked because it tells the computer to inject the right fuel mixture depending on the temperature of the engine as it warms up. You might consider a BG-44k http://www.BGprod.com engine cleaning to help the idle get back up to 750 RPM when the engine's hot. The idle should be over 1200 RPM on a cold start.

Sounds like a problem with the rate at which the car idles. It should be about 800 rpm. I had a car that did that once, but when the idle dropped, the car stalled. It turned out I had water in the carburetor and a mechanic dismantled it and cleaned it up (I don't think it cost over 300.00).

Btw, newer cars don't have carburetors...but your '91 might.

Your car is almost 17 years old. It may be dying of old age.
