I took my car in for an oil change and the place had a field day looking over the car.

They said the car needed two new tires, including one that would have failed inspection because it was driven on while flat. It also needed to be realigned, have a coolant flush, and a transmission flush.

How urgent are these problems and which should I do first?

So I recently broke my timing belt, and it's currently sitting at the mechanic's shop being worked on. He called me about 15 minutes ago and he told me that he got everything put back on, but the engine will not turn over. Does anyone know if perhaps there is some time of sensor that could have disabled the engine from firing after breaking a timing belt? Could my after-market alarm have something to do with this? The cam says it has .465/.488 at 1.5 ratio, so to find out how much it would be with 1.6 rockers i took .488 / 1.5 then multiplied by 1.6. this = 5.2053333

The heads i am using say they can handle up to .520 lift.
Am i going to have a problem with the .0053333333 lift that is above the maximum .520?

I'm getting my baretta ready 4 sale and have found that it idles and drives well under 2500 to 3000 rpm, after that it runs and dies (not completely) at the higher rpm sounds as if one or two plugs are missing. wires, plugs are new and have replaced one ignition coil last spring. Does this sound like an ignition coil. and if it is, how is it removed? I can't even get in to see size of bolts ... any help appreciated. If anyone know socket size needed let me know

Mechanic told me that you need to check complete combustion system and eliminate one at a time. Start with PVC valve, exuast system, etc. If I cahnge PVC valve, would this solve problem? because If I start changing one componet at a time, this may cost more in labor and parts. Any suggestions.

I have a 03 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Diesel and 6 speed. When I start the truck the clutch pedal is very soft. I am unable to get the truck into gear without pumping the clutch 20-30 times, then I can shift into gear no problems. I checked the fluid reservoir and it was still pretty full, I topped it off two days ago and it hasn't gone down since then.
What is wrong, and how much am I looking at to have it repaired at my friendly neighboorhood mechanic?

I have a 89 Honda Accord DX, 5 speed, with a 2.0 carburated, A20A1 engine. Ok, my car is running pretty crappy right now. It was running good intill a few days ago and I was coming home and I put it in second and it didn't want to pick up to fast but it seem to act ok, then about a hour later I had to go somewhere else and then it started in all the gears just loosing power and having all kinds of problems getting it going, the engine starts up ok, but once you rev it up it starts missing and all kinds of BS. My macanic said its starving for fuel so I checked everything I haven't replaced and replaced them, I checked all the vacuum lines and found 2 that was bad and replaced them, I'm put new wires, new plugs, new distributor cap, new distributor button, fuel pump harness, fuel filters, air filters, then my machanic said it was the distributor breaking down on me, would a distributor cause a car to run fine in idle but run crappy in gear or reving up, anymore questions IM me or email

New starter, charged battery, new starter relay. I have taken off the belts, non binding, turned fly wheel, ok. Hooked everything back up, turn key it just clicks. I am at my wits end. The starter works off the truck but not hooked up. I have used a multi meter to check for breaks in the wires and they show good contacts. Help

I need to change the fuel filter on a 1996 Saturn SL1 is it an inline filter that I need a special tool to remove and install it? and how hard of a job is it to do. My worry is snapping the fuel lines since they are plastic. Thanks in advance.

New engine, new /rebuilt alternator new battery
Ground cable from battery connected to alternator ground bolt, added ground wire from battery to frame. Cleaned other ground connections, added new connector harness at alternator. Connected probe light to altenator body and + of battery to verify good ground, light did come on.
With car running at idle, connect volt meter to battery register about 12.94 volts, turn on head lights register 11.84, raise engine rpm, may get 12.xx volts.
Had autozone check battery and alternator, said both is fine.(both on and off the truck)
At one time when you turned on heater blower, the battery light would come.
Also, check by connecting light probe to battery - and the other to the disconnected - cable. Very dim light due to radio.
Only other asscessories are radio and 2 200 watt amps, these connected to battery with inline fuses.
My guess is a bad volt regulator on the alternator. What else can I chec

1988 Chevrolet Sprint....Carb, stick.

Stalls when slowing down and at complete stops.
I only get to stop about once of twice when the car first starts if I'm lucky now before it starts stalling every single time.

We have:
*checked timing chain . . .
*adjusted both cold and hot idles (does nothing for the stalling)
*changed fuel filter, *sparks *plugs are okay
also changed *air filter and *rotor .....plus *pvc valve
put *Lucas' Tune Up in a bottle in the tank
have *sprayed the choke/carb cleaner
and have checked for leakages of air in tubes.

This car runs in very good shape otherwise.

(We have a fuel pump on order and will go ahead and put it in either way it goes, so there will be one more problem taken care of in advance.)

What is keeping this car from running?
Pics Of Vehicle. . . http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2443864

Thanks again very much in advance.

My old ford Taurus is leaking coolant into the oil so now the oil on the dipstick looks like a chocolate milkshake. Anyway could it be a cracked head or warped gasket. it was running hot for less than four miles before i got home.
