My girl friend and I are looking at a cavalier it's either a 1997 or a 1999. And the price seems too good to be true but the guy said that it was his ex wifes car and just wants to get rid of it. i was just wondering if there are any common problems with cavaliers.

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy and when I was last driving the car I noticed the voltage meter spiked positive and stayed there. When I was driving the car started shifting weird from gear to gear. It would slam into the higher gear. At first I thought that this may be a fuse because I had a similar problem before where the car wasn't shifting correctly and it turned out to be a blown fuse. So I parked the car and came out the next to day to start it up and look at it but the battery went dead. I took the battery to get charged at an auto shop. They said the battery was fine and was holding a charge. I get home and put the battery back into the car but the car wouldn't start.. it seemed like it didn't have enough juice to turn the engine over. I come back about an hour later and the battery was totally dead. Is this the battery or is it the alternator? I don;t see how it can be the alternator because I didn't even start the car up and the battery was dead. Any help is appreciated.. thanks.

My dome light was left on overnight. I had to get my car jumped to start. The person hooked up the cables wrong. The dash is not working correctly now. Could this be a result of the cables being hooked up wrong?

We got the damm car back in Feb 06 and we have replaced the tires all four of them two times for each tire and today we have a flat on the drivers side front again. That car is really a menace. Is this normal? Also when you put the clutch in it whines. Does the chevy have a place for transmission fluid or is the clutch apart of the braking mechanism?

Our chevy aveo is a four door with hatch back. 4 cyclinders.

I can start the car fine, but after 10 mins of driving it starts to buck and eventually cuts out. Thing is, it always re-starts with no problem. I took it to a mechanic who changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, checked the alternator and timing belt. Still no resolution. What's going on?

After a year of trying to figure out what was holding back my trucks engine power,i finally found out and fixed it!! I am so happy now and my truck runs excellent! Anyone else ever have a problem with their vehicle and could never ever figure out what it was even after having mechanic after mechanic look at it and they couldnt figure it out either?!!?Lets hear your story---best answer!!

If your wondering, my truck needed a new electronic spark control unit.The check engine light never came on so i could never diagnose it.I had replaced so many sensors already,i almost gave up.So i was chasing down a "bug" that would never reveal itself for over a year!Dont laugh,it could happen to you too!!

my 98 rover 420si 16v is eating petrol, it does 20 miles to a fiver round town, the tyres are fully inflated and everything seems fine, theres nothing wrong with the exhaust, so what is it? please help me. plus my petrol gauge has had it, the needle doesnt go up and down but the light comes on when nearly empty. now ive tried getting to the sensor in the boot but there is nothing where the hole for it is so what can i do?

My key works fine in all the other doors and the key can turn to the locked position in the tailgate lock, but it won't turn to unlock it. What can I do to get the tailgate unlocked and fix this?

I recently had the water pump replaced on my 1994 Mercury Topaz. One day later it worked fine going to school but overheated on my way home. A hose was loose but that has since been fixed. The reserve tank is way past full hot and will not go down, I can not see any coolant in the actual radiator. What is wrong. The car otherwise runs better than it has in the past. PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm upgrading my 93 Mustang LX front brakes. Bought some Hawk performance pads, then found a set of SVO calipers. The piston, although larger than the stock caliper piston (73mm vs 60mm) has a smaller ID and the triangular spring clips do not fit. Can they be bent safely?
