Some are designed to rotate the other way - are the numbers also written in the opposite direction? Otherwise, it has been installed with the wires reversed. (A few older cars have a positive ground, meaning that all the electrical stuff has to be wired backwards to operate correctly. This usually applies to older English cars like the original Mini, old MGs and Triumphs, etc., but there may be others. Which terminal on your battery is connected directly to the chassis?)

Are you putting it into a Big Rig Truck? Sounds like you hooked up the wires backwards.. Negative goes to ground in a car or pickup truck.. but in a Big Rig Positive goes to ground... the other wire goes to the proper terminal on the battery or a convenient hookup to the hot side of the battery.

The rotational velocity of the crankshaft in relation to the camshaft has exceeded the speed of light and the tach is displaying a negative space-time anomaly. Do not reverse the polarity because of temporal rifting which could occur at startup.

You probably have the polarity of the electrical connections hooked up backward.

Because you hooked it up backwards, reverse the gears.
