I have a 1990 Merury Grand Marquis. Does anyone knoe why the exaust pipe started letting out lot of smoke? I noticed it smokes way more than the cars around me.

this depends on the color of smoke:
white smoke = coolant leaking into cylinder engine
black smoke = fuel air ratio too rich
blue smoke = engine burning oil.

white smoke could be head gasket leak, warped head, intake manifold gasket leak, cracked block. have cooling system pressure tested.

block smoke check engine light should be on have the codes read to determine where problem is.

blue smoke internal engine failure need a compression test will help in determining cause.

It may be burning oil, if the smoke is blackish blue, then it is oil burning. If it is white smoke it may be condensation...not an expert, but if it is burning oil it may be a long term problem. Sell it and buy a Toyota or a Volvo. Volvo saved my life in a collision at 70mph with a telephone pole., Toyota saved me countless dollars in maintenance costs! Good Luck.

Probably need to replace your piston rings good luck
