I have no idea what some of these people are talking about. To replace an exterior door handle is a 20 minute job.
It doesnt matter who the maker is, its pretty much the same for cars made in the last 40+ years.\
First you roll the window up. If you have manual windows, then you need to get two flat head screw drivers, you want to twist one screwdriver behind the window handle, so you can get another screwdriver behind the crank, to remove the metal fastner clip holding the crank arm on. next you unscrew the arm rest and door handle cup. then you look for any other screws. If you find none, your next thing is too get a flat head screw driver and run it underneath the panel, starting at the bottom.
As soon as you feel resistance, you pry the panel up. Those are the pop fasteners. You do this around the entire panel.
now if you have power locks or windows, unhook the wiring harnesses, and manipulate the panel around the interior door handle. some older cars require the pull up lock on the inside to be unscrewed before you can take the panel off.
after the panel is free, remove the vapor barrier. Its just a peice of plastic sheeting. Then you will need to unbolt the exterior handle, and there will be a steel rod connecting the handle to the actual lock. There is a clip that holds the rod to the handle. push up on the clip, and the rod will be free. then just pull out the handle and replace.
You shouldnt pay more then $7 for a handle from a junkyard.
No doubts a mechanic would charge you over $100 to replace it.

Open up the interior trim on the door and the insulation/vapour barrier, detach and lift out the glass. Pop off the handle retainers and voila make the change. Insure you make sure to do the research on whether you'll need a special removal tool or not and have it handy. Some car shops have a tool loan program and you might get the extra tools there. Good luck!

you need to take the inside door panel off and have the window rolled down. then you will be able to see what is required to replace it. i personally just go to a mechanic and have them replace it as it is a hassle to do yourself.

it's not easy, you have to take off inside door panel, possibly remove window(which is no picnic), then remove handle from inside the door.
