Yes,your cv joints are bad. This is very common in most front wheel drive cars. The sound you described is always the same, ive heard it many times before.A new halfsaft with the cv joints on it are around $100 per side. You can just replace 1 side.Your maybe looking at $300 after a mechanics labor cost.Look under your car.Look on the inside of the wheel in the center. There will be a little boot running to your wheel from the halfshaft. There is also another little boot on the other end of the halfshaft. There are 2 halfshafts in your car.The drivers side and passenger side.Under this boot is your cv joint. This little boot usually rips and throws all the grease out of it,hence causing damage to the cv joint itself.I know your thinkin that if you just throw some grease back in the boot, the problem will go away.No it wont.I have known many people with this same problem and they have driven their car for thousands upon thousands of miles with no problems even when their cv joints are clicking. You'll probably not have any problems with it for awhile, but if you can afford it,get it fixed.Hope this helps.

I take it that it is making the popping sounds in the front end, right?
if this is the case, it could be bad ball joints, tie rod ends, or something that has to do with the steering.

She should get her 'front end' checked. Although you didn't give the 'location' or direction of the 'popping' I am guessing that her 'front end' is 'out of alignment' because that can cause 'popping' when it turns in one or sometimes even both directions.

Check the ball joints, tie rods, stabilizer links, upper strut plates etc, if you don't want to do it yourself, go to a reputable garage and have them check it out for you.
