The other night I was letting my 93 Chevy Corsica warm up to drive home from work, and after about 5 minutes the car stalled and died. I tried to restart it, but when I did so the headlights and inside lights dimmed, and the car would not turn over. I tried a few times to start the car and once or twice there was a series of clicking sounds. When I turned the key all the way off and then back on, the power seemed to come back slightly, but the car gradually started to lose power all together. I came back to it yesterday, 2 days later, and it still had some power, but it was very low, and I still couldn't start it. I had it towed to the mechanic, assuming my alternator was bad. After he looked at the car he told me I needed a new starter. My question is could a bad starter drain my battery and cause my car to die while running? And if not does that mean that my alternator or battery is bad in addition to the starter? Thanks!

I went out four wheeling with my cherokee when i hit a bump my motor shut off. I sprayed som starter fluid into the throttle body and it fired right over. so i checked if i was getting fuel to the front of my jeep and sure enough my fuel pump wasn't kicking on. so i went and swapped relays with the autoshut down and it kicked right on with the key. and in about three minutes i blew that other relay.

I have a 97 geo metro 1.3? 4Cyl. After noticing a rough idle, I took the head off to reveal a burnt exhaust valve on the #3 piston. I took it to a head shop to get it replace and seated. I put the head back on, tried to crank it but it wouldnt turn over. After a few tries, I could hear what sounded like the engine turning over. But it wouldnt start. I took the timing belt cover off to reveal a broken timing belt. After looking around I notice that the Crankshaft will turn with no problem, but the Camshaft will NOT TURN in either direction, it is completely stuck and wont budge. Hence, the broken timing belt.

My van is only 3 years old. 40000 miles. I have had CV joint problems . Engine management issues and 2nd gearbox. Apparently comes off a renault laguna. That was a clever move by vauxhall as a lagunas are clearly made for heaving loads around. What kind of stupid person thought that it was ok to put a car gearbox on a van. Aggghhh 2000 pounds later and it still keeps breaking. GMAC are a joke. Has anyone else enjoyed this lovely vehicle supposedly made for commercial use but spends most of its life in a garage.!!!

lady cleaned her yard I got it for free. engine turns, put a car battery on it turned the key, won't turn over no click noises from the starter( pulled starter apart it works) I had previously turned the motor with a wrench no problem. It looks like it might have an old style ford starter solenoid but being a dodge fan I am not sure about that. not puttin ford down, I drive a 95 merc wagon. also I put a new spark wire on it. any ideas?

I just finished replacing the head gaskets (both sides) with a new feld pro kit. put a new edelbrock 600 cmf performer carb on the performer intake. It had a hard time turning over before I did the gaskets (no coolant was found in the cylinders) she wants to turn over, but just hesitates real slowly. I also replaced the starter with a new hi-tourk chevy unit. what is the biggest battery I can use?, and how many cold cranking amps can I put to it with damaging the starter? I was using a optima 850 but it is 4+ yrs. old. so I'm not sure of the cca it is still capable of.. The compression is around 10.5 to 1 thanks in advance

I have a couple of rust spots on my 2003 Celica. I heard something that most Toyota cars get rust quicker in certain areas like the fenders for example, but so soon. I know my car isn't new but i already have rust in these areas: the fender above the tire, my oem spoiler, the outline of my fog lights and the inner part of my sunroof. I keep my car clean and try and wash it every week or two if necessary. I also have some scratches on my hood and im considering just repainting my whole car. Will this help?....but what about the other areas that i mentioned like the outline area of my fog lights...Do i replace the entire lights??....is there something i can do to prevent (or delay) my car from building rust..Im asking because i want to prepare my car and maybe get it into an autoshow this Summer.

I recently bought a 92 4 runner, it's been acting a little finicky lately. The worst thing yet tho was yesturday driving home I was accelerating once I hit 35 and eased off the gas, the car kept accelerating so I slammed on the brakes, got off the main rode, my hubby jumped out and said the throttle was wide open he closed it, we turned off the car. He drove the rest of the way home, I was a little shook up. It hasn't happened again , yet.
My question is, what could of caused this, & will it happen again?

Please don't answer the question if you have no clue.

Thanks.
