My van is only 3 years old. 40000 miles. I have had CV joint problems . Engine management issues and 2nd gearbox. Apparently comes off a renault laguna. That was a clever move by vauxhall as a lagunas are clearly made for heaving loads around. What kind of stupid person thought that it was ok to put a car gearbox on a van. Aggghhh 2000 pounds later and it still keeps breaking. GMAC are a joke. Has anyone else enjoyed this lovely vehicle supposedly made for commercial use but spends most of its life in a garage.!!!

I'm not familliar with UK cars and trucks but it sounds like Vauxhall went with whatever was cheaper. They've been doing that here in the US for years.

I personally wouldn't touch a Vauxhall commercial with a barge pole. They've always done the same. Tried to use car parts to build commercial vehicles to cut corners. I've also heard that the vivaro is a death trap if in an accident but that is just hearsay.

I've tried peugeot, citroen and VW but always end up going back to Ford. I've got a Connect 230 now and love it. Cheap to run and reliable and the bigger transits are just as good.

Designed by a frenchman, built by indians and nigerians who couldnt give a toss about quality........ever gone past renault at kick out time...or luton vauxhall for that matter! I dont think anyone cares about quality anymore unless you buy something like a ferrari and they are so badly built its criminal! Id buy a transit purely because they are built to do the job and ford know if they s c r e w up then then they go under, transit has kept ford afloat for years. bit rough around the edges and the engines couldnt out pull a HGV up a hill but they are dependable , cheaper to run and buy spares for and cheaper to insure.

If I remember right, the Vivaro is one Vauxhall / Opel buys off Renault and have their own branding / badges tacked onto it........ so the most likely reason you've had problems with it is because it was designed by a French person.

I, too, believe it's a badge-engineered Renault - as far as I can remember.

'Nuff said?
