I have a couple of rust spots on my 2003 Celica. I heard something that most Toyota cars get rust quicker in certain areas like the fenders for example, but so soon. I know my car isn't new but i already have rust in these areas: the fender above the tire, my oem spoiler, the outline of my fog lights and the inner part of my sunroof. I keep my car clean and try and wash it every week or two if necessary. I also have some scratches on my hood and im considering just repainting my whole car. Will this help?....but what about the other areas that i mentioned like the outline area of my fog lights...Do i replace the entire lights??....is there something i can do to prevent (or delay) my car from building rust..Im asking because i want to prepare my car and maybe get it into an autoshow this Summer.

Repainting it will help areas that are rusting need sanded down and reprimed before they get too bad. If they get too bad then it may need to have that section replaced. With an old car of mine is used sandpaper and sanded out the rust and then use spray paint primer until i could get it in to get painted. This does take alot of work . I would try this before thinking about replacing.

When you do get it repainted then consider waxing car regularly to keep a seal to prevent oxidation(rust).

First things first mate,, eliminate all rust, if a jobs worth doing its worth doin right,,you may as well spray your paint onto the wall rather than the car,,, it will look good for a few weeks but soon enough you will see the little rust bubble's popping back up through your fresh crisp paint,,, check the under body too chassis legs etc,,, if ya see rust wire brush and clean the life out of it!!!! apply a coat of shults(under body paint)and boom keep an eye and don't let the rust spread!!

Rust starts because of leetle cracks or chips in the paint. If it isn't a massive spot, just get some very fine sand paper, and "gentle" sand the rust away, in one direction.

A small amount of auto primer, then two coats of exact match color finish should do the trick. Wait two weeks, and lightly buff it with a fine compound.

Don't paint in temperatures below 45 degrees or above 70, or in direct sunlight however!!!

Hope that helps...

p.s. Use a quality rub on wax to, after all the rest...

it quite is going to purely treatment the rust if all the rust below the paint is bumped off. If the rust can't be thoroughly bumped off, consisting of any pits, the only everlasting answer is to cut back out all the effected metallic and weld in a patch. in any different case, the rust will purely return in a quick time.
