I bought a '94 Nissan Altima a few months back. The cruise does not work. The light comes on when I press the switch, but it does not engage when I use the steering wheel mounted buttons. Also, the power antenna does not work. The car has a cheap aftermarket stereo that was put in but not connected when I bought it. I had it connected and the antenna cable is hooked up, but the power anteanna will not go up. I'm wondering if possible these are wired through the stereo setup. Any ideas?

An engine equipped with an L-type head configuration has recently had a tune-up. During the tuneup,
the oil was changed, the filters were replaced, the cooling fins were cleaned, and the spark plug
was replaced. The engine ran fine before the tune-up, but now it won’t start. When you begin to disassemble
the engine, you find that the spark plug’s ground electrode is pushed up against the center
electrode and that there are dents and gouges on the head of the piston. Which of the following is the
most likely cause of the engine problem?
A. The crankcase was filled with too much oil.
B. The spark plug reach was too long.
C. An air cooling fin was broken.
D. The piston head was gouged by a screwdriver when the air filter was changed.

A customer brings a lawn mower into your shop to be repaired. The mower contains a four-stroke,
single-cylinder, 12 hp Kohler engine. The customer complains that the engine won’t start and that the
starter cord seems to be “stuck.” He then explains that this problem occurred after running the mower
in a field of very high grass. You immediately notice that the exterior of the mower is very dirty and
covered with grass clippings. When you attempt to pull the starter cord, you find that it won’t move
and that the crankshaft won’t turn at all. Upon removing the blower housing from the top of the engine,
you find that the cylinder head fins are dirty and completely clogged with grass clippings. Based
on these observations of the engine, which of the following would be the probable diagnosis of the
“no-start” problem?
A. The spark plug isn’t firing properly and is preventing the engine from starting. The spark plug
should therefore be replaced with a new one.
B. The electronic ignition module failed, and the resulting short circuit caused the crankshaft to stop
turning.
C. The engine isn’t getting the proper lubrication. The fuel-and-oil mixture ratio should be checked,
and more oil should be added to the mixture.
D. The engine overheated because air couldn’t pass over the clogged cooling fins. The excessive
heat caused the piston and crankshaft to seize, preventing the crankshaft from turning.

Hello!

Will a Chrysler brand car remote work with a 3rd party keyless entry system (such as Commando)? Can the Commando receiver 'learn' the Chrysler remote?

I would like to add keyless entry to my 1994 Chrysler vehicle, and I would like if I could use a genuine Chrysler brand remote.

Kind Regards,

I recently bought a Certified Corolla and it is still under the 3 month comprehensive warranty. I want to get the car checked out because I think it may need a repair. There is a 50 dollar deductible for any repair.

Now, if the dealer determines that there is nothing wrong with the car, will I still be charge a diagnostic fee?

It started a little over a month ago, it just started cutting out, i first ran some lucus fuel treatment in it thinking maybe my injectors were dirty, then i put new plugs and wires in it, still had the same problem, well, I then went to the timing and changed the timing belt, still, so i had o'riellys test the ignition module, they said it was good, so i replaced, the crank position sensor, the coil pack, and still have the same problem. I loosened the catalytic converter, and that didnt help, then i changed the O2 sensor and still no help, i have changed and fuel filter and tested my fuel pressure, fuel pressure is good, so i have no idea were to check next, I rented a scan tool from O'riellys, and that was the reason i changed to O2 sensor, but it didnt say anything else. I have no idea were to start next, can anybody help?

Yesterday, I brought my 2002 Ford Windstar in for a oil change. The guy fixing it informed me that there was a leak in the transmission and one in the motor. Told me he would have to clean the engine with gunk and then find the leak. Said for the tranny could be a axel seal (what is that?) or filter seal (don't know what that is either). For the motor they don't know yet...Then the guy told me the coolant is brown. I am really worried because I am afraid its the head gasket...Can someone please tell me what the problems could be. Please be serious, yesterday some asked me if I was a dumb blonde..rather insulting..Yes I am female but I am not dumb. I do know alot about cars, but not about this...What could it be? The van is running great, smooth and is not overheating at all. I live in quebec so its really cold now but wouldn't the engine overheat if it was the head gasket? Could the coolant just need changing? Please advise..and thank you very much in advance :)

I have a bit of rust on my chain and on small bolts. Is there something you can spray to get off the rust? Also, could I wax the metal parts to help further rusting?

I had my car coded and I need to replace the fuel injector module. I think it may be in the computer, but I want to be sure before I go and buy a new computer. I haven't been able to find anything in the manuals because the computer was made by an outside company. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated.

i recently took my car to the renault dealer with a loud knocking noise coming from the engine, after a week of looking at the car they found no fault, the knocking noise was still there. My car was returned to me and some weeks later the knocking noise got louder and i lost power on the car...would not reach speeds of more than 20mph to begin with, did pick up after a while. Took it back to the dealer, they replaced my turbo as they said the turbo had gone, got the car back, still the same knocking noise, they then told me that it needed two new injectors, this was after paying out 90quid first time they found no fault, 2nd time paid out 520quid and now they wanted 400quid for injectors. After my car was taken from the garage and taken to another garage to have this inspected, this is when they have informed me that the piston is broken, could this have been the problem at the start and would this have prevented the turbo from having to be replaced....? 3yr old car, 42000 on clock.

How is this determined? I would assume that the mechanic shops/dealerships would go by the same book to give estimates. Is this correct?

Hi. I've got a Ford Tempo 1990 that's rusting. I live in Ontario, and the winter is rough on cars. The rust is coming back. I don't have a lot of time to deal with it, but what's a good way to make sure it stays in O.K. condition. I've already messed up the paint job by previous rust paint applications. The spray stuff doesn't spray well in winter, so I've got the speckled look going on.

Thanks.
