You need to have an indipendant inspection done of the engine however if you have already commissioned them to replace the turbo because of a piston failure why was the piston not replaced at the time?
Sounds like diagnosis through elimination this is not ideal but is ofton the means garages use.
Is this a Renault garage doesn't sound like it? Whats there technical reason for replacement of the piston and the injectors. Have they tried just putting diesel injection cleaning fluid on the fuel? What fault did the car get put into the garage with? £3k of repairs would have bought you a complete new engine installed from Renault and you could have got one for £1k recconditioned. It really does sound like you are being fleeced...
What work has been done that cost £3k ? You could have got another Clio for that!!!

i started on your other post -

I'd definately say that the hole/crack in your piston would have ruined the turbo, it would have destroyed the oil, and thrown a lot of debris in aswell, possibly causing your bypass to open on the oil filter. Turbo bearings are very sensitive little darlings unfortunately

as to whether it should happen to such a low mileage car... it's so hard to say..

your injector could have partially brokendown causing the one cylinder to run really lean and melt the piston.. but it's unlikely...

if you don't change the oil, or if it's run too low, this could ruin the turbo by itself.

your piston could have just been a crap one from renault...

If it was my car - I would go back to the garage, mention a court case , and see what they say. If you just ask them to have look and it turns out to be your fault, you'll have a big bill. OR, get a scrap clio, and swap the engine. A competant garage can do this in a matter of hours, possibly for as little as £400 ???

get in touch with the institute of diagnostic engineers (website or phone) ask for list of members who`s field of expertise is automative chouse FI Diag.E (highest grade of membership) start c court proceedings instruct them to act as joint mutual expert witnesses. if the garage won't cooperate and ignores court procedure apply for judgement by default
