I put a used fuel pump on a 1990 7.3 liter Ford. Didn't pump up the fuel to the filter head bleeder. So I put a new pump on there. Same problem. Both tanks are clear full. Usually I can crank about 10 seconds on a new tank (after running a tank dry) and it pumps right up. What is the deal? Do I need to pour fuel in the filter assembly? Pressurize the tanks? I have never had this problem and have worked on diesels a LOT. Next I am going to blow on the tank and see if fuel comes out at the lift pump. Thank you in advance!

I was wondering if it's true that higher octane gas gets better mileage. i did a little test myself several years ago, but the results ended up being about the same. Recently though, I added an octane booster to my tank when I filled up and noticed that I got an extra 10-15 miles more in the first quarter tank. Which would abmount to about 30-40 miles a tank. Is this just a coincidence?

Whilst replacing the cylinder head gaskit, the plate on one of the camshafts moved. There is a pick up/sensor infront of it, in the cam chain cover, so I assume this for the ignition timming. Needless to say the engine will not start, despite having good compresion and fuel into the cylinders.

Okay, so the radiator had a huge crack in it so we changed it. Now it is drivable and runs good except if it is stopped for too long, which is not very long. If I am going through traffic I will probably have to turn the car off to prevent it from overheating. But once I start moving again the temp drops and everything runs smoothly. Any ideas on why it only overheats at a stop? I surely appreciate any advice. Thanks!

okay, can anyone help me with my dillemma? I desperatley need advice....
Okay, so the other day I was in a little fender bender. This is what happened: I was stuck in traffic, and cars were budging along slowly...then when I drove forward just a little bit and started braking, my car started skidding on the ice....I was going 10 m.p.h. MAX......I bumped into the rear of a 1999 chevrolet silverado pick up truck with my 1998 isuzu trooper. The wierd part is this.....The man driving the pickup claims that I made the small dent that was on his rear bumper....but the wierdest part is that although he had a small dent, with none of my paint on it, my front bumper which is made of plastic didnt get a scratch on it...and the dent was in a wierd place, I have no idea how my car couldve made the dent.....Does this sound fishy to anyone else...I mean, I wouldve thought that my bumper wouldve gotten atleast a scratch or fallen off because my bumper was loose at the start. And his bumper was.

I've tried all I can to get that oil filter off. When i stabbed it in the side with a screwdriver it just destroyed it. I poked several holes in it and tried to turn it but no luck. I've used a filter wrench but no luck there either. I've tried pretty much everything. Now I'm stuck with this destroyed oil filter on my truck and no way to do anything. It's destroyed from top to bottom and the filter part fell out. What should I do? Should I just take a pair of tin snips and cut it off? Please can someone help me?

ive just bought a 94 ford escort 1.6 16v it runs sweet but if i let the clutch out at a normal speed there is a horible bang and the engine jolts up from the front more than it should (the bang is made by the engine moving so much) i thought it was a loose engine mountain but they are all tight (the gearbox mountain is tight but there is quite a bit of movmeant from the arm that sits inside the rubber) also the front wheels shudder a bit when i get to the biting point (this stops when the cluch is fully release) ive been told that the release bearing might be stuck but i didnt think that would make the engine jump so much

One of my back tires is wearing in a diagonal cupping pattern and my mechanic said that it is because the struts are shot and the tire is bouncing as it travels down the road.

I have a 91 Chevy beretta, when I drive there is a knocking sound in the back, which I think may be the shocks need replacing, but the car also kind of jerks and wobble when I drive like as if one tire is bigger than the other ones, but this is not the case because all the tires are 14 inches, does anyone know what the wobble and jerking may come from? also the knocking sound towrds the back of the car? and every time i hit a pothole or a bump at a high speed the car tires kind of turn in the other direction may be I need a wheel alignment? if anyone have any other reasons please let me know, also how much would it be to get these problems fixed?

Need to change a front wheel-bearing on a 97 Chevy Cavalier. The bearing is in a pre-assembled hub. I removed the three bolts holding the hub to the steering knuckle but couldn't get the bearing out because it seemed to be rusted in there. I tried using Seafoam (rust remover) and that didn't seem to change anything... and I have pretty well pried and hammered at it with small tools. What would a shop use to get it off? Please be specific if you know... like the name of tools or equipment and possibly where I can get them or rent them. Thanks!
