Sounds like the idle speed control valve(stepper motor) which control the revs

sounds like a bad mass air flow sensor, assuming it is a fuel
injected engine. or it could be that you messed up and bought a renault.french cars are a waste of american monet.(pun intended)go see an overpriced french mechanic.

There is probably a fault with either your air mass flow sensor, or your idle air control valve.
