As the previous person said, a piston is knocking on the inside of your engine block. Next will be a crack in your engine block, or the piston blowing thru it and out the side of the engine.

Time to replace the heads and pistons, or get a brand new engine put in. Its a truck so you should be able to go to Pep Boys or similar and buy one right off the floor for only a few hundred bucks and have them put it in for you.

Knocking and Pinging could be from a number of things, and each of them..BAD. SAdly without hearing it and looking at it, it's hard to tell. Bring it to your local mechanic and get ready to be ripped off..just the sad truth. But better tackle it now before it gets any worse.

well regardless of the problem or lack or problems a person should check all the fluid levels at least once a week . in a commercial transport you must check them everyday thats the law.
i dont think your problem is as a result of fuilds but check them and have them changed oil 5000 miles trans one time year or sooner if you drive alot . brake fuild flush one time year . all fuilds should be checked and changed on a regular basis.
