Prayer is talking to God. When you talk to your friends, are your questions "all - inclusive"? Talk, or pray to God, as you would talk to a friend.

Who are you tryin' to impress— God or the MEN listening.
When speaking to God, always speak to Him as if He is the only one listening. After all, He is the only one who counts, and can do anything about your petition or praise!

Jesus said to pray:

Our father, who art in heaven (acknowledge specifically WHO you are praying to, not just a general "whoever is listening")
Hallowed be thy name (acknowledge His Holiness)
Thy Kingdom Come (acknowledge His Authority)
Thy Will be done (acknowledge your desire for HIS will, not your own)
On earth as it is in Heaven (acknowledge His roll as creator)
Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread (Pray for your own needs, it's ok - doing so in His Will is the important part)
And forgive us our Trespasses (For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory - express regret for what you do that doesn't please him)
As we forgive those who trespass against us (remind yourself that, just as you desire God's good graces, you must also give generously those good graces to others)
Lead us not into temptation (We trust Him to lead us)
But deliver us from evil (again, praying for ourselves and our own deliverance)

And that's how you should petition God.

I'm not religious but yes they should be all inclusive.

Is it just me or do the "God bless America" bumper stickers get on everyone elses nerves also?
