The brake rotor on my car was stuck and in the process of taking off it off, the head of the bolt holding the brake system together, broke off. It was going to be $375 for them to fix it before the broken bolt and I can't afford that and the cost to repair the bolt right now. Is there anyway to get the bolt out without taking it to the garage?

4 years ago I had it rebuilt, When I parked it a year ago , it ran strong. A couple months ago, I drove it around the block and it seemed to slip. I figured it was because I changed the motor, and fliud leaked out. ANyways , I changed the filter and fliud, nothing visually wrong , and it still wont go into gear. I got it hot, reved it up and still nothing . Can a tranny get "gummed up " just from sitting ? or am I the victim of a timely trans failure?

I am a recent college graduate and have had my eye on a beutiful 1952 Ford Crestline Victoria since 2002. The only problem is, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The car, best I can tell, has been sitting in the back in a hidden corner of a rarely used parking lot since 1998, though the body is in fair shape considering. Now that I have a steady paycheck, I am currently trying to locate the owner or (if that isn't possible) get a salvage title on the car. However, I don't know exactly what I need to do before move a car that has been sitting for so long. Should I get fresh gas/battery and try to start it? Would tires that still seem ok really be fine after not rolling for so long? If I do indeed get this car, what do I do first?

I got my oil changed and less than 400 miles later, my oil light started flickering on and off. So I checked under the car and noticed oil in the driveway. Took it back to the place I had the oil changed and they found the filter to be loose (as i expected). The car normally takes 4.5 quarts. They added 3.25 quarts. Would you expect driving around for this relatively short period of time with less-than-full oil cause any significant damage?

i have a gmc k1500 with the 5.7L and 189K miles. any suggestions on reducing a valve tick without redoing the heads? i've tried thicker oil, thinner oil, changing the oil every 1500 miles. nothing seems to work. I'm trying to avoid a head job here. any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have a 97 Chevy Lumina and an 03 Impala. When we took it to Wal-Mart for oil changes, it stated on the slip that it had "0 fittings." So when I change my oil, is that all I have to do? Or does it requie some greasing or lubing to anything? Thanks.

I have a 97 dodge neon that will just die out. We have check the cam sensor, and the crank sensor but both seem to be good and working using a voltage check. The code that came up is loss of cam sensor but it still runs a little rought but it runs. The last bit of info i have is that it is was bought back by the manufacturer due to warrenty. So in other words the dealer couldnt figure it out so the had to by it back, thus leading me to beleive that maybe the PCM is bad thus causing a faulty reading. does Anybody have any info that might be helpful.

For the record, I recently replaced the thermostat and flushed out the cooling system. It doesn't seem to boil over all the time. In fact, sometimes I think it has no rhyme nor reason to it, but it does do it more after idling a while or when driving in stop and go city traffic. The truck is a 1991 Ford F-250, automatic, 2-wheel drive, with the 4.9 Litre inline 6 cyl. engine. Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a Subaru that has P195R60/15 tires on it. One tire went flat (has a large hole in it). I was told that on an AWD vehicle, you MUST replace all 4 tires whenever you replace one. Is this true and why? I SO cannot afford to replace even one tire! Also, must they be the exact same size? A friend has offered me 4 tires, size P215R70/15. Can I use these? If not, why not? If so, is it safe to change the size of the tire?

Ok. Here is what I know. Tell me if it is at all different. The solenoid is a coiled wire that has a cylinder in it. The cylinder has a little metal rod in it at the end. Now when electricity passes through the coils, it creates a magnetic field and draws in the metal rod againts a spring (so that the rod will go back to its starting posistion) But then what? How is that getting the starter to turn the crank shaft? Please be real detailed! Thanks.

I have a 96 Mercury Sable and everytime I am parked or stopped in traffic and I have the heat running the car overheats. I have sent it in to the shop a few times and have been told different answers from each shop.
There are no leaks as far as I can tell (no visible ones, as in dripping on the driveway).
Can anyone help me?

A friend and I acquired and old Sea King outboard motor. We think it is a 5 horse, it may be 7 1/2 horse. We need to know where to order parts. I guess they were sold through Montgomery Wards. Someone else told us that there were two different manufacturers: Johnson and Chrysler. We will need a new impeller, maybe a coil and we would like new condensers. We plan on fixing it up ourself. We just need to know where to buy parts? With all the outboards being repaired, somewhere there has to be a place selling parts???? I hope someone can help and thanks.

This happens after about an hour long drive with intermitent stops inside town and more severe when you drive with the air conditioner on. When you re-engage the Drive gear the car makes no move until you rev the engine to full depression of the accelaration pedal
