I have a 99 Malibu and my gas guage give me false readings whenever the true gas level falls below 1/4 of a tank. the shop wants $200 to fix it and the dealer even more. Is there anything i can do myself? I have tried resetting the computer numerous times but it never works. I just bought the car im march of 06 and it was fine when i bought it. It wasnt until about 3 months ago that i started having this problem. If anyboody out there could help me out and possibly shed some light on this situation the best place to reach me would be at bubbas2000@comcast.net. Thanks in advance.

I changed the plugs on my 98 Cavalier last week because the engine was missing and sounding real bad. When I pulled out two of the plugs, there was black greasy gunk all over them. I put in one of the new plugs, and pulled it out because it was going in wrong, and the same stuff was all over them.

What do I do to get it cleaned out?

When i turn the wheel to the left or right, a squeaking noise comes from both sides of the car, but mainly the left. It does it when the car is about to move off. It's only started doing this about two weeks ago.

My 2000 Chevy Malibu LS has 134,000 miles on it and still has the original alternator. The car still runs almost like new. Should I replace the alternator soon as a precautionary measure, or wait until it goes out?

My wife's car shudders while sitting still (in park, in gear, and in neutral). Also, it sometimes is slow to accelerate and jerks while doing so. It acts like it wants to die sometimes, but has only done so once. I put some iso-heet in it to rid it of any condensation. I'm also having the fuel filter replaced and possibly the coil packs. It is a '98 Pontiac Sunfire with 100,000 miles on it. Any ideas?

Heat comes blasting out at the highest setting, however you can barely feel it at any of the other three settings.

I have a 1991 Caprice with a 5.0 engine and I got a problem that is driveing me nuts!. The car starts great even in cold weather and idols smooth but once the engine warms up to operating temp. and I come to a stop and put load on the engine the ignition cuts out and back in randomly. also when driveing and trying to acelerate for a hill the same thing happens. the car doesnt miss a beat when its in closed operation at all. so far to fix the problem I have replaced the ignition swich, ignition module (4 times) , the coil, rotor, cap,I have even replaced the whole distributer and the P.C.M. main computer along with all ignition wireing and plugs. There are no trouble codes showing up at all. and yet the problem persists! I unpluged a sensor yesterday after the car was warmed up and the miss disapeard and everything ran great (CLOSED LOOP AGAN) . I double checked all grounding wires and they check out good. Yesterday, I wonder if the Eltronic spark control module could cause this???

What am I looking for underneath the vehicle in order to change the oil and filter out? I'm tired of just pouring a bottle of oil into the engine under the hood and not actually changing it from the bottom of the car!!!!!! What knobs or whatever do I look for, how is this done???? I know that is a simple thing but I dont know how and I'm sure that its someone out there who does, I want to be one of those who does!!!!!!!!!!!

I was approached on the street in Mexico where I live, by a guy who wanted to use "teflon" on my headlight covers to clear them up. I hadn't spent a moment thinking about cloudy covers, and declined, but afterwards noticed mine were pretty opaque, and I now I wonder if this is a problem for headlight beam distance, and if there is a fix other than buying new ones?

I have a 2000 Toyota Echo. When I first got it, I was impressed by how well the head lamps lighted the road. But I've noticed over the past several months that my head lamps don't seem to be lighting the road as well as they used to. What could be the cause? I have changed the bulbs in the past year; could it be the type/quality of bulb?

I still have the original alternator on this vehicle, and even my mechanic is flabbergasted by this (I already have nearly 134,000 miles on my car and have had no major problems yet). Am I just lucky, or can alternators really last this long?

Recently my ford aerostar van started pouring water from the weephole of the waterpump and all my oil was just disappearing leaving just foam on the dipstick...we drained what oil was in it and there was antifreeze in the oil so we figured it was a blown head but it it possible for antifreeze to leak into the oil due to a bad waterpump?

My heater fan does not work most of the time but occasionally if I have left it in the medium to high range it will start by itself. Where might the short be if there is one?
Thanks
