My 1974 Chevy Nova 350 4bbl has a sticker on the inside of the glove box indicating 91 octane ROM. Is todays regular 87 good enough? The compression is 8.5:1, low.

My car is a 2001 Mercury Cougar. (no remarks about the car brand, please) I just noticed yesterday that as long as I am going 40mph then the heater works fine. But when I stop at a red light the air turns cold and does not immediately heat up again when I go. It will usually take a mile or so for it to warm up. This is not like my car. The heater used to work when the motor was on and the car was in park or stopped. Will I need to take this in to a mechanic? How much will this cost? Or is there something else I can do myself to fix this problem?

I have a 97 Pontiac Sunfire and just today, like two hours ago, my check engine light came on. I took a look at my fluids and all look ok, but the oil. It is QUITE low to the point to where I'll need to stop at the store to fill it up before attempting to drive home from work. It did looks pretty dirty as well. I also made sure my gas cap was quite tight as well. Could the low oil cause my light to come on like that? I'm only 500 miles late for my oil change...

I don't notice much in the difference in it's performance. It's always run a teeny bit rough as it has aged, but it's not doing anything out of the ordinary.

when driving it just dies like you cut the key off. and will not crank unles i unplug and replug the ignition module. no codes show up. i have replaced the ignition module, crank sensor and coil packs. it also does this sometimes when it is cold and trying to crank. I have checked the fuses, under the dash, and under the hood they are all good, any help would be greatly apreciated.

When i start my car it squeaks. I had a squeak before but i changed the belt and the sound went away. But now after a month of me changing the belt the sound ONLY comes on when i start the car and it seems that after the car warms up the sound goes away. I know it cant be the belt because its a brand new belt. Also when i had the problem before with the old belt, when i hit the gas the sound would not increase. NOW when i hit the gas the sound increases......

...I have replaced any and all burnt fuses under the dash (and looked under the hood as well) but it doesn't last long. Now there's discoloration on my digital clock and digital odometer and the fuse to the power mirrors has blown. Also, whenever I replace the fuse to the cigarette lighter, it burns out within minutes. Any suggestions?

I did this for the 1000 mile mark and paid for it but I'm wondering if I should just skip it and take it to exxon for a routine oil change and check up. Any info would help since I'm going tomorrow on 12-28-06.

It then seems to fire one cylinder at a time until they all fire up. It was fine in the cold weather last year, but has decided to start playing up like my old one used to!
