Could be a few things:

Your battery could have discharged
Alternator has died and will not charge battery.
Test your battery to see if it is still good, may have a dead cell.
corrosion build-up around the terminals?

If you still have warranty...usually batteries have a 3 to 5 year warranty. If you still have the reciept you are laughing.

hi r_soles, There are 2 important the reason why your battery mild is on: If the mild is on dim and flutuates at the same time as the engine is revved, it may factor out a defective altenator not giving out sufficient charge yet putting some charge decrease back into the battery, besides the indisputable fact that, there'll be a time at the same time as the battery will be discharged. no matter if that is on bright then the altenator isn't charging, meaning you're operating the vehicle on battery power and the battery will quickly change into flat. the different reason is that there is a small diode interior the altenator which connects for your caution mild. each from time to time those breakdown and allow cutting-edge with the help of the diode to power the caution mild. many times the output from the altenator is blocked (in lay mans words) with the help of the diode at the same time as operating at acceptable p.c. which cuts power to the caution mild (a useless ringer for a swicth). So if the mild is on, battery voltage is cutting-edge and the output from the altenator won't be able to over come it because the diode is defective. In any experience, you'll favor to have it checked. relying on how previous your motor vehicle is purchase a recondition altenator they are more cost-effective and basically as reliable. Or purchase one from a scrap backyard and get your boyfriend or dad to in fantastic condition it.

Most battery outlets will do a charging test on your car. Go to one and ask but don't tell them it is to check out a new battery bought elsewhere. This way you will have some evidence if they find the battery to be faulty.
Best of luck and a Happy New Year.

Could be lots of things. The alarm went off because of low voltage. To avoid embarrassment, make sure you didn't leave something on (lights, etc) and that there isn't something like a boot light that stays on. Get a tech to check your electrical system first, then if he confirms it's the battery get 'em to change it under warranty. Sometimes there is a dud one that slips through.

Hope that helps.

i own a shop, and you need to check and make sure you didn't leave anything on in the car,,if you didn't it maybe a bad battery ,,it should have a warranty on it,,you can probably take it back and get a replacement for it,,look at the battery and see if it says anything about a warranty or if you have the receipt that will help a lot,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

easy to find out if it's the battery or car not charging it. charge battery untill it will start the car
get a multimeter set it to dc volts (use a range that covers 12v)
connect red wire to positive black to negative on the battery)
read the voltage without car running then start car and rev to about 3000 rpm and see if voltage goes up if not the car is not charging, if it does go up to around 13.5 volts than car is fine battery needs testing with a drop test usually the place you bought it from can do this

if you have been parked up for a few days then what can happen is the alarm and immobiliser drain the battery plus batteries hate sudden weather changes so give it a charge and see how it goes..

Charge it up and see if it happens again. A car accessory shop or garage can test it with a rapid discharge tester.
