It is likely the pump but it could be a clutch. With out pulling the pan thats all any of us will be able to say. Luckily these transmissions are common and in-expensive. Oh I say the pump because I had the same problem in my old c10. Which was the pump. You would put it in a forward gear and it would go nowhere. In reverse it would go if you reved it up a bit. But I guess to the guy below me that is some how funny sounds like he is the clueless one.

If the fluid is up and looks good you'll more than likely have to rebuild or replace the trans.If no noises are heard grinding gears and such then the fore ward gear clutch is worn out. Which means all the clutches have to be replaced.rebuild the trans at this point.Good luck hope I helped. GM tech for 20 years

Pull pan of bottom of tranny change filter. Or it could be the pump. If that doesn't work it need to be rebuilt.
