In this situation, what difference would it make if the car is mechanic or automatic? I explained the whole situation in 2 previous questions...(drove 15 minutes with emergency brake on)

Here's the deal! I picked up a used chevy truck for the motor. It ran fine except for a skip. figured it was plugs and wires. This is a 87 chevy engine. I changed the wires and such and changed the cap and rotor. I swaped my old motor(blown) and swaped the 87 enigine in. Hooked everything up and started her up. Starts fine but the engine races up around 2000 rpm(guessing but close.)When I swaped motors I changed nothing except for the above mentioned. Never touched the carb. Plugged off one line of which went to a tube from the old exhaust manifold. Any ideas?

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. The temperature dial actually snapped off one day. The dial isnt broken but the rod it was connected to did and wont budge, even with plyers. I was told I could fix it myself but Im wondering what caused the dial to stop turning and also is it easier to do it myself or pay the dealer to do it for me

I just wanted to re-phrase and clarify a previous question I asked not long ago. I drove the car with the PARKING/EMERGENCY brake on for about 15 minutes before noticing..the car did not make any noises, it just felt like the cement was uneven because it felt like little bumps, and mostly when I accelerated. During this time, I reved up the car real good, like went 60 -70 in very short space and time...when I got home, there was a very strong burnt smell and was obviously piping hot...when my husband found out (it was his new car / Infinity G5) he was furious...how terrible could this be, besides the husband, hahaha...

I have a 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES. The air bag light on the dash has been on for several years. A while back, I had asked the dealer to look at it and they said the spring had to be replaced ($250!!). I never got around to doing anything about it. Question is, can I buy one online and safely install it? Is this likely to remedy the warning light problem?

When I start my car it makes a high pitch squealing noise under the hood. It gets quiet after it warms up but you can always hear a little noise. It does it more when you turn the steering wheel so my fiance'e replaced the power steering pump but it still makes the same noise. What could this be??

it seems to be in the area the tranny mounts to the motor possibly the torque convertor?? the motor runs great it is a 4.3 v 6 automatic trans. i am sure the vibarating is not in the motor. the vibrating comes on stronger with more rpm in gear or nuetral. sometimes it is hardly noticeable and sometimes it seems the truck is going to shake apart.

I took my car to get an oil change 2 days ago, they claim to check all my fluids so I leave it up to them. And today, because they did not put enough oil in the engine, I took it back. So they had 2 inspections, tonight my car overheats because of low coolant/antifreeze. I know ultimately I am responsible for the car, but I pay these guys to do the general oversight as they claim in their ads and service agreements, the document I sign at the end indicates that all fluids were checked. I am looking at very expensive repairs due to the overheating, can I hold them responsible?

I just bought a brand new rear shock for a 1998 malibu off of the internet. The shock/strut is not leaking any oil and is pretty hard to push in and pretty hard to pull out. Is that how its supposed to work? the only shock replacement Ive ever done were on the 80's montecarlos and such where it was a shock and a coil spring on the side. Ive never dealt with these coil over the shocks.

I have read articles that say it’s a myth and a pick up truck does not use more gas when a tailgate is up, Others say it does??? Which one is it? Also what about handling? My truck 1993 Chevy and my 1987 Dodge seems to “fishtail from the wind more with the tailgate up also??? Is there any real evidence or studies that will settle these questions?

I have a 2004 Passat and the brake lights are on all the time even after shutting the car off. The dealer says that it's an indicator of needing new rear brakes for $500.00. But I had all the brakes replaces about 10000 miles ago.
