Usually the squealling noise is caused by a drive belt. If its an older car, you may have a separate v-belt for the alternator, steering pump, A/C, etc. If its newer, probably a single flat (serpentine) belt. If its worse when you turn the wheel, probably related to the power steering pump. Did your fiance change the belt(s) with the pump? If not, try it. Also, as a quick fix (temporary) try spraying some aerosol belt dressing ( get it at parts stores like Napa or Pep Boys) on the belts.

Sounds to me like the drive belt is loose. Since you did not identify the car I will assume it is late model. I which case the SERPENTINE belt is slipping. Causes; worn, oil covered, or the belt tensioner is stuck or tired, The belt should be very tight. In the morning, after you start the alternator is busting it's butt to charge the battery. This will cause the belt to squeal, turning the steering wheel puts pressure on the pump causing the belt to squeal.. Check all that stuff.....

Sounds like a squeaky belt, but since you had the power steering pump, I would assume that he changed the belt at the same time. Maybe the pump and or belt it just out of alignment to cause the noise. Or it may be another belt if this has one that one.

It is a belt that is squeaking. Check your belts for wear. Check the fluid level of the power steering unit. Get a spraycan of "belt dressing" if the belts check out and the power steering fluid is full. Go ahead... use the belt dressing I have used it to stop squeaks with no ill effects. 86mets will tell you not to, but he doesn't know why.

I ran across a few late model ford products (tarus) that made that same noise, turned out to be the cam shaft sensor. Car had about 30k miles on it and the dealer said that was not uncommon.

If your belt doesn't do the trick it could be your brake pads.
