I have been trying to change my tire for the past couple days because the lug nuts were way too tight. I got all but one nut.... The last one will not come off because its rounded off on the edges of the bolt, making it impossible to think about fixing. Does anyone know how to remove a bolt like this??? Thanks a lot for any help!

My friend told me that the tracks on The El in Chicago are not actually bolted into the ground, but are just lying there. Apparently, this requires constant maintenance because the tracks move and become misaligned. He said the tracks are not bolted because the ground would shift if they were.

My first question is whether this is true, and my follow-up question is: if it is true, then why is it done this way - the ground shifting doesn't seem to explain much.

I have a 1992 Buick Lesabre that has had nightmare electrical problems before that took the garages weeks to figure out, so I hope this isn;t something like that, but here's what happenned:
Over the past couple months my turn signals have been working intermittently--some days they would work, some days not, and when they did they didn't blink normally, they would blink slow and uneven. On the days they didn;t work, I at least still had the turn arrow light up on my dashboard.
Now they seem to have quit working altogether, and I don't even have the green arrow lights on the dash. I can probably live without turn signals, but is this something that will "spread" to my taillights and brakelights, or will it remain confined to the turn signals?

Flushing the window between the panels of my car door in exasperation doesn't seem prudent. Could you suggest anything less invasive so I can avoid the mechanic? Thanks!

My car has 97,000 miles. It has had regular oil changes. The check transmission light came on and I filled the fluid and it all leaked out.

I bought a 1500 watt heater for my 83 GMC pickup and installed it where the old heater was and it looked good, but it turned itself off the first night so my truck was cold in the morning, and I put in on today just to see if it worked and it got hot and was pushing hot coolant to the engine but two hours later it shut off and the truck was cold. Now the tank won't get hot and I am worried the element burned out. I connected it with the arrow pointing up so the coolant would flowing to the engine (water heater?) and the hose was coming from what looked like the cab of the truck where the heating switch would be. Does this make sense? The old tank heater worked for years so I'm not sure why this one is having problems.

I just got a 1950 Chevy 3100....it's needs some work (but thats why I got it)

Where should I start? HOW should I start?

I was thinking about doing the interior first (IMO it needs the most work) The engines pretty good (needs a new battery box, etc...)

Any suggestions? I'm going to do a full restoration...

have just replaced the rear end and checked all mounts engine and transmission, noise is not consistent with engine or wheel speed, just comes and goes as it wants to. sounds like a large rock or number of rocks about 1 per second, hitting the under side of the vehicle. will not make the noise on a lift. it will only do it when you drive it
