maybe the clutch or transmission is slipping

It's nice that most people don't even read the question.
Your transmission is slipping. Maybe the clutch if it's a manual, or low fluid if it's automatically. Make sure you check the fluid in an automatic with the transmission hot and the vehicle running. Some vehicles need to be in neutral, and not in park when you check the fluid because the pump doesn't run in park. If the fluid is OK, you're probably in line for a rebuild.

It could be a restricted exhaust system, which is usually caused by a clogged catalytic converter. This usually gets worse as the engine warms up and you notice kind of a roaring noise accompaning the loss of power. It could be a transmission problem if the rpms are really climbing but the truck isn't speeding up.
