The tire says Maxamum Tire Pressure 42 lbs. Is this what I should run in them or should I go a little less than the maximum?

Look for a sticker on the driver's side door edge or jamb. It should tell you loading and pressure information. If you fill to the maximum you may get good tire wear but traction, especially wet traction, will suffer. The maximum on the tire isn't useful for determining what pressure you should put in. That's determined by the load on the tire.

42 psi is the maximum safe opperating preasure not the optimum pressure your car should be running approximatly 28 to 32 psi depending on its use . look at your owners manual or compliance plates it will say what preasure to run your tires at if not a call to a dealer in your area they will be happy to answer your question . its a common question
