Hey, can someone please help me either figure out how to fix the vacuum system on my heater in my 83 dodge pickup truck or either direct me to a good book that may help (or website)? It's just not working ... the vents won't close or open. Please help!

Where does the vacuum hose from the heater control go to? After it goes through the firewall, what does it connect to?

the hose( probably black from engine to switch) goes from engine to vacuum reservoir to under the dash into the back of the vent control switch, from the back of the switch the other 4 hoses go to the diaphrams that actuate the doors(def.,vent,floor,bi-level,recirc.) if theres a supply issue usually the vents will always be to defrost. if theres low vacuum supply the doors will be slow and go to defrost under heavy acceleration. if it just plain won't switch I would suspect the switch. majority of the time theres a broken hose or reservoir under the hood.

With the truck running and the vent on low listen for any hissing under the dash. If you can't hear anything open the hood of the truck and listen there. A lot of times it will get a vacuum leak near the firewall where the vacuum hose meets the fire wall

we've imperative vac in our 4 tale duplex that replaced into geared up a pair of 12 months and a nil.5 in the past, and Ive used it merely as quickly as. It in elementary terms comes with a heavy 30 foot hoes that ought to be lugged up stairs from floor to floor. according to risk if we had room to shop a hose on each point it could be extra effective, yet they're very cumbersome. individually, id extremely use my gentle weight Hoover flair bagless vac.
