I have a 2001 VW Passat and the battery suddenly died. I have had a charger running on the battery for the last 4 hours. The charger is showing that the battery is only at 1.5 amps. Is that normal? How many amps do I have to let the charger get up to until the car will have enough juice to turn over?

My tires are very expensive and other than the uneven wear are in good shape. What damage am I doing to my truck by driving it with that terrible vibration on the highway?

Could it be the ground from the battery to the engine block? The mechanic is saying that so much wiring has been changed on the vehicle that it is hard to get a diagnosis.

I have a '91 Lincoln Continental. Sometimes when i´m on the gas pedal, the car shudders for maybe 1-2 seconds. I don't notice it so much when i let the car "free-ride" downhill. What can this be? Also, (i do NOT know if it's related) the transmission seems to be very "indecisive" about what gear to stay in.

i just recently changed my passenger side headlight (it went out last week) and my dome light inside my car (which blew at about the same time)....and now my driver's side headlight is out (just realized last night)! i drive a 2004 honda civic...is it just that the lights have a limited lifetime, or should i be concerned with the electrical system in my car?

They are darkish brown caked on deposits that run all the way down the dipstick to the oil level indicator. It scrapes off with the finger. The oil looks ok but the level is alittle above full. Before I bought it the vehicle only was driven 1000 miles in 6 months (had it changed when I got it), and i believe mostly short city trips. Could it be that these deposits are water in oil from condensate from short trips and the oil was just filled too much where I had it done, or am I leaking coolant into the oil? I just spent $450 getting the timing belt and drive belts done, is this going to end up being another $500 repair? :( Should I scrape off the deposits, and drain some oil (or just change it) and see if it happens more or what? Thanks

Is a 2-ton 'floor' jack and 2 ton jack stands good enough to lift and hold my 96 Monte Carlo & 04 Honda Odyssey? I am changing brake pads and rotors (I found a buddy to help).

For future, are jack stands safe enough to work under a car (I would only be doing oil changes)?

(My floor jack is the kind you get a sears or autozone. Not the one that comes with the car)

When in drive, something is out of balance in the rear of my 1989 Chevy van. It sounds like a worn belt on the tire, but I have new tires. It's an intermittent sound, mostly at lower speeds or when slowing down. At high speeds, it starts to turn into a whirring sound and then disappears and then the car rides smoothly. I don't think it's coming from the wheels. I'm suspecting the drivetrain. It's a two driveshaft setup w/ 3 Ujoints. It also has a bearing that the 1st, shorter driveshaft rides in. Would replacing the Ujoints make any difference?
