Maintenance & Repairs - October 2006

Toyota Avalon, 98; took literally 2 months in their service department to fix. Check engine light kept coming on; replaced computer, even, then put old one back in as it didn't fix the problem. Finally decided we had "bad gas" which caused a variety of problems. Prior to this the car ran great, had always maintained properly. Never buy "unbranded" gas. Generally go to same 4ish gas stations.

When it is sitting and when you drive it it runs like crap. When you step on it it wants to die. It has no acceleration at all. The check engine light is not on we put on new cap, plugs, wires,rotor, fuel filter, and still that did not help. What is wrong with it?

Master tech of 40 yrs when it just sits there idiling it even runs like crap and when you stomp on it has a dead spot. Even when you put the pedal to the floor it wont get up and go. We put on new cap plugs wires and a fuel filter and air filter what is wrong with it?

Yesterday my truck ran fine. I cameout this morning and, without the keys in the vehicle, the oil pressure light was on, service engine soon light was on and the odometer was on with all dashes. I tryed to start, battery appears to be fine, it just would not turn over. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok I have a short in my push button system and can't find the short. When I press the button to engage in reverse it shorts out and the Green Wire get's hot (to reverse lamps), Brown (reverse) ; Yellow (Ignition) at Automatic Park switch.

When testing the wires for conductivity the following occurs.
Brown and White
Brown and Grey
Brown and LT. Blue
Brown and Purple
all have conductivity

I can not narrow it down to where the short is and have spent hours looking. Please help!

I have a 2002 cougar that i bought about a year old. The car has a 6 disc cd changer built in the dash and it was giving me problems like making this jack hammering noise whenever i changed a cd and the other day i went out to change one and it said cd error and it sounded like all the cds in the player were breaking in the dash. But that isn't all the problems, the car heats up inside really quickly with no heat or anything on and if you touch the heater it will burn you with nothing coming out, if you turn something on while driving or something you lose a lot of power and a lot of light source. Does anyone know what is wrong with this piece of junk? And has anyone ever heard of a 6 disc cd changer doing that?

My 2001 Chrysler Town and Country was not accelerating a few weeks ago. We checked the tranmission fluid, and saw that it was very low. We added the fluid and everything seemed fine. It stopped accelerating again momentarily the other day. I beleive it may be leaking the fluid. If this is the case, does that mean that I need a whole new transmission? If so, about what does that cost?

ok i have a 86 Cadilac and it has been sitting for a year not running- i put new oil in and new gas in and charged the battery and it wont turn over - befor it had no problems with it other than a oil leak what could be the problem and how can i get it running again???
