Go to your local auto supply store and get a spring compressor.
Remove a front hubcap and note the large nut in the center. You will need a socket to fit. Remove the nut while car is still sitting on the floor. Before removing the nut completely, hit slightly on the end of the axle with a brass hammer to prevent damaging the threads.
Jack up the car and support on a suitable set of stands
With the car supported on stands, put the jack under the lower control arm and raise slightly.
Put your spring compressor on and compress the strut spring.
Remove the nut from the lower ball joint, and drop the linkage down out of the way. Disconnect the lower end of the strut, and swing the hub out away from the car. The outer end will now be free from the hub. Using a parrot head pry bar, carefully pry the inside end out of the transaxle so as not to damage the seal.
Get a new shaft and reinstall it in the opposite manner.
