Gently place the cap on the distributor and when it is in the proper position the small tab on the cap will line up with the slot in the distributor... Get a #2 Flat tip screwdriver and turn the lock
tabs by depressing them until you feel the cap is secure, get a flashlight and make sure... good luck

If it has the original 305 in it still get raid of it. Drop a 350 in it like I did. I own a 1984 Monte Carlo SS.

it has a loaded spring and a screw. you push down on the screw and turn it a half a turn..
