A few days ago after I finished pumping gas and as I closed the gas cap, a little pin popped out "see -

http://www.fernbuck.com/piece.jpg"

I knew it came from somewhere by the gas cap but didn't see exactly where. I thought nothing of it, grabbed the pin and saved it. Today when I tried to pull up the little lever from under the seat to open the cap, it would not open. I tried to play around with it using a screwdriver, and pop it open, but I knew if I forced it it would break. Someone help, I need gas and can't open my gas tank.

Someone hit my car and he admits responsibility. He wanted to pay me with cash instead of going through insurance. But the bill is 1,700 to repair and now he wants me to go to his autoshop for an esitmate. When I get there, the mechanic who is is brother in law said he will fix the car and get it back to me in a few days. I was surprised since I thought I was just getting an estimate. So I am thinking. Should I just have them fix the car. The guy who hit me seems honest since he could have just left the scene. He is also my neighbor but doesn't live very close. I want to give him a break by lowering his cost to repair my car but I am worried about

1) his repair shop doing a bad job,

2) needing to rent a car and charging him for it later if the job is not done in time

3) Hidden damage like my radiator which you can't tell needs replacing until you pull the bumper off.

Please help.

I have a 1993 Chevy that still runs good but the front end and the dash starts vibrating everytime I pull up to a stop light and hold my foot on the brake. If I put it in nuetral, it stops vibrating.

I've had it to shop several times. It doesn't happen for them.

car powers up with all lights including theft system but will not turn over it makes the sound of a dead battery click but the battery is charged and terminals are clean (I think that it is the theft system as I have had a problem with this before) I took it in to the dealership and had to pay $200 to have it fixed and all they said that it was a loose cable which was BS so I need to find out how to bypass this system or at least know how to start it if this problem arises again............. if not please come steal my car

I'm driving a 2004 Ford Focus Sedan with full bodykit but my rim is still original size 185/65-14. I noticed that my tyre tents to wear out very quickly, like i change my tyres every 7-8 months and i'm using Michelin Energy tyres. So, if i change my tyre size to 195/65-14, will my tyre last longer? i travel about 40k Km per year at least. Also i check my tyre pressure every week, alignment every month, everything is fine and just change my shocks.

Will this damage the alternator? Is this considered a "repair" job or just a "clean up" job with the alternator. Is it necessary to totally disassemble the alternator to get this stuff out of there? This is a very expensive car. And my insurance company is giving me a big hassle about this. I need to know if its a repair, or just a cleanup. They agree to pay for repair by damage mouse, but not for clean up. This is a MAJOR ins co., statefarm, to be specific.

So I buy this truck with a 350 in it and the engine blows on the way home. The kid I bought it from didn't tighten down those really cool looking chrome valve covers and I spew'd oil all over the place. Next I get a killer deal on a 307 engine thats not quite assembled, but man its got a ton of extra parts. So how hard is this gonna be? I've replaced engines before but always been the identical one from a junkyard. I only know how to work on cars cause I'm poor. Thanks in advance.

What would happen if I was driving an automatic transmission Jeep with the cruise control on (driving approx 60mph) and I down shifted to 3rd while going up a hill (forgot I was in cruise control).

Besides the loud noise... what damage did I do?

...hypothetically of course...
