Will this damage the alternator? Is this considered a "repair" job or just a "clean up" job with the alternator. Is it necessary to totally disassemble the alternator to get this stuff out of there? This is a very expensive car. And my insurance company is giving me a big hassle about this. I need to know if its a repair, or just a cleanup. They agree to pay for repair by damage mouse, but not for clean up. This is a MAJOR ins co., statefarm, to be specific.

First put out mouse bait or trap or it'll happen again. In order to get the car to the shop it must be towed. This is a repair, you must disassemble and check parts, then lubricate and replace. Alternator works the same on all vehicles. If you buy parts to replace take some advice. Carry part to auto parts house and say I want one of these. If they ask, say Chevy. Many parts interchangeable. For some reason if you say Vette the part is more expensive. If you have already driven car and alternator didn't catch on fire or stop working , keep on driving !

How much is your alternator? If it is a Z06, you can buy one for $338.31, core charge $53.95. Unless the mouse has destroyed your wiring harness as well, this isn't an insurance claim.
Addition:
I just realized you have two questions in these forums, and this is just a part of your other one, therefor not a single answer in here is complete for your case

If the vehicle sits idle for an prolonged time mice will make a nest everywhere they might .in the event that they won't get to an outstanding foodstuff source to fill their abdomen's they're going to start to eat insulation off your wiring to compensate and eat one yet another too.the alternator ought to be wiped sparkling out .i be attentive to of persons putting steel demonstrate textile over the openings to maintain out the nesting.additionally they climb into exhaust pipes .i be attentive to that first hand I fired up my 1979 cx500 HONDA v-twin and blew a nest and scooby (mouse)in the time of my driveway out my tail pipes ! They get into places so small you cant have self assurance it conceivable .

i dont know how you would catogorize it but what i would do is find out how much a new alternator is, how much your deductable is, and how much your rates are going to go up if you make a claim on it your deductable is probably more than a new alternator
