If your battery, alternator, and starter are good, but the alarm doesn't work...I would try disconnecting the alarm completely.

Sounds like there has been a lot of after market installation work done on this car, and that is where I would start looking for wiring problems. Check the remote start, alarm, and kill switch jobs and I would not be surprised if some vibration has not loosen a connector or two, which is disrupting the starting circuit. Since a couple of them are not working, this is a good place to start looking and see about getting it restored back to stock without those functions at all.

The first thing to do is get the engine checked for codes. If you can't get it to someone who can check it. Go to Advance Auto or another parts store and ask them if they have one of the small metal code reading tabs that you can put in the ADL connector. It is a piece of metal about 2 inches long with 4 tabs on it. You use it to jump the terminals in the ADL connector, turn the key on and watch the engine light. The light will flash the codes. It should flash 1 time then 2 times code 12, this is a check of the system. After the system check it will flash a number of times with a short interval then flash again. Kind of like Morse code. ***+**** would be code 34 etc. There will be a longer interval between codes. ***+****= 34----****+***=43. Write down the numbers as they flash. Then re post your question. You will probably end up having to remove the remote start system and the alarm to make it run right. They can cause all kinds of problems.

All this stuff about starters, alarms, alternator, battery, etc. The statement, as I read it, says the car cranks fine but doesn't start. That eliminates all these other things. The thing I would like to know about is whats a kill switch for in a passenger car ?? I would do some checking on this device if I had the problem you have. There are many other possibilities but it takes hands on to solve most electrical problems.
This car has no obd 2 but has obd 1 probably. If you have access to an obd 1 code reader you might get some answers.

Well lets start from the beginning! Did you have the alternator checked for operation? Did you have the battery checked out? just loading it up with stuff and not adressing the problem is a watse of money! And does the battery have a good charge now?

Starting with a "good " charged battery, turn on your headlights, -do they burn bright? Try the starter do they dim or go out? If you have a severe -change of brightness of the hedlights, you have an electrical problem! If the lights go out, start out by checking terminals - make sure they are clean (soak each one in a little water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it), after the terminals have been cleaned, try headlights and cranking again! If you have same problem, check other end of battery cables for good connections!

If the lights dim way down when you try to crank, check your starter.-- Is it "clicking" when you turn the key to start? If you hear nothing, take the starter off and go have it checked for performance! Or you can use a set of jumper cables with it hooked to the battery (after removed from car),-and at least see if it trys to "run" when you apply power to "input terminal" and jump solenoid "keying terminal" -it is the small one that actuates the solenoid to pull the starter into gear (moves the starter drive towards the flywheel) which also makes connection to starter motor for current to pass! (Don't forget to ground the case of the starter with the other cable!) You can apply power directly into terminal on side that goes down into the starter, as well as the "in" side of the solenoid, - thereby being able to tell that the solenoid works ok, and if not, - if the starter motor itself is ok!

Now you are aware that on all GM vehicles there are two wires coming from each battery terminal! On the positive (+) side, - there is the big wire that goes down to the starter, and a smaller one that "feeds" the body and accressories inside the car! The negative terminal has a big wire that goes to the frame or the engine somewhere to ground the battery to frame etc, - there is also a small wire that goes in genereal area and is another ground also! If that red wire (+) small one-- is broken or not makeing a good connection, all the stuff inside the car will fail to work properly! (note:: that this second wire could come up from a junction block somewhere between the battery and starter, - or even off the starter terminal itself).

Other than this the only thing I caln tell you to do is to find where the wires go down to the starter, - make sure that they are making good connections, -- there may be a "plug" in the wiring loom coming around the rear (near top) of engine, if this plug fails you will have inrtermittent problems, - finally going to no operation at all in time! I found this out on my Oldsmobile after I took the starter out the 3 rd time (each time finding it worked fine, re-installed worked fine (for a while), - then quit again!

Beyond this you are going to need an experienced mechanic to look at it, it shouldn't take him a long time to find it, - (unless you have caused additional problems while llooking for it yourself!)

Sounds like a bad relay on the remote starter. It will be under the dash close to the steering column. You might want to call a car alarm/car stereo shop and see if there is someone there that will take a look at it or fix it for you. Good luck.

Buicks are wierd and hard to fix. Check all of the wiring again, there may be some wires crossed. Check the spark plugs too.

I just finished fixing one with similar problems.

it was the ECM that needed to be replaced. unfortunately, the owner spent $650 replacing parts before he brought it to me to find out what was up.
