So I buy this truck with a 350 in it and the engine blows on the way home. The kid I bought it from didn't tighten down those really cool looking chrome valve covers and I spew'd oil all over the place. Next I get a killer deal on a 307 engine thats not quite assembled, but man its got a ton of extra parts. So how hard is this gonna be? I've replaced engines before but always been the identical one from a junkyard. I only know how to work on cars cause I'm poor. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, everyone is right. Direct bolt in. Be aware though the reason you got a killer deal is that no one wants 307's . You have a big heavy truck and you are going to want plenty of torque to pull it around. The 307 has very little performance potential. Don't get me wrong, There is nothing wrong with scoring a cheap engine to keep your ride on the road. Just don't expect too much from this engine and don't let it keep you from becoming a Chevy guy. Have fun.

The outsides are identitical. Inside the sizes are different. How much experience do you have ? There are tremendous variables in assembling an engine. I'd look for a buddy or a book. If you do get it together be sure everything is torqued correctly. Good luck.

Should be no problem... If you have replaced engines before this should be just a plug and play...
