When the brakes are applied on a 1999 Toyota Sienna, there is a horrific grinding noise. A pretty loud grinding noise. My strong belief is that the brakes are well past their useful life, and have probably been driven to the point where the repair is going to be expensive.

So, now, before I take it into a shop and "trust" someone to diagnose and repair the problem, I am wondering if I can pull the wheels and see how much damage is involved. Is there anyone who can give me a laundry list of items to look at, what okay/not okay looks like, and... maybe even a very rough cost magnitude if it is known?

For what it is worth, I am not a mechanic but I can easily get a jack take a wheel off and look at things. It sure would be nice to know something when I am dealing with an auto repair shop. At the moment, I am a sitting duck for a dishonest garage.

I am sooo late in paying for my registration, in was due in May, but when I took my car in it failed! The mechanic said it passed everything but the computer part of it. so he said "put 1,000 miles on it" and bring it back to me for a retest. So I did that, but took it to someone else, it failed again, so the guy didn't charge me. It's been about a month, what should I do now??

The truck backfires alot when slowing down.It also blows black ex haust when first starting. And ocasionaly will choke and sputter, shutting off but able to restart later. It will ocasionaly sputter and act like its either flooding or possibly starving for fuel.It has only started this recently after a 14 state road trip in a month and a half but ran increadable with no problems the whole trip. The engine and carb are both new.I,m thinking the timing needs to be advanced and could use info. on how to do that as well as posibly leaning out the carb.Any suggestions would be greatly apreceated.Thank you.

I bought a 1994 Toyota 4x4 in April 2006, and the computer has already been replaced as well as the entire wiring harness. I just want to return the truck to the dealer I bought it from. What are my options?? I've almost been killed in this truck twice because it just dies out.

My 1999 Taurus is over heating and I think it is from the radiator being plugged. It looks like I have to remove the front bumper to get to the radiator. Does anyone have step by step instructions for radiator removal in a 1999 DOHC V6 Tauras?

I have replaced all of it--pick up coil, rotor, cap, wires, coil, ign. mod., and crank sensor. Went so far as to replace oil sending unit and still no spark. Timing is right on, checked it several times. I don't know where else to look,

I have Toyota Corolla 1993 Model which is in very good condition. Recently I am facing a problem of low engine idle speed while AC is running. Without AC the idle speed is around 900 rpm which comes down to 700 rpm after engine worm up. When I start AC this idle speed is supposed to go up but it is not happening. Infect it drops slightly, it causes engine to vibrate but AC works fine. During driving there is no problem with AC or Engine. What could be the problem? What should be the remedy? I want to do this repair myself.
