If you replaced your tires and suddenly your speedometer is off 10 mph gosh what could it be? I bet your headlight,s need to be aimed. Did you make absolutely certain the tires were the same size as in compare the numbers on the sidewall? If the tires are the same size then I don,t see how your speedometer could be off I would check the tire size it,s the only logical thing to explain it even tho logic does not seem to be very prevalent here on Yahoo answers.

How do you know your speedometer is off by 10 mph? If all they changed was the tires, and they didn't do anything else, then A) you purchased the wrong size tires or B) you're just batty. You would have to purchase a significantly lower or higher aspect ratio to be off by 10 mph.

For example, if you have 215/65/R15 stock, you would have to go down to 215/40/R15 to be a full 10 MPH off.

Since most 2001 cars use electronics to get a speedo reading I would think that the tire shop moved the sensor. Call a dealer and talk to someone in service and ask them where the speedo gets its signal. Ask if they have seen this problem before and if they know how to fix it. Also call the tire shop and ask them if they have seen this before.

Your tires don't need balancing..... why do some people even bother answering questions?

You may have just noticed it and it's been off all along. Even if you replaced your tires with a different size, it would never make a difference of 10mph.

How do you know your speedo is off? At what speed is off? Even if your speedo was off 10mph, it wouldn't be off that much at all speeds. If you were clocked at 90 and your speedo said 80, you'd still get a ticket. I wouldn't worry about it.
